I have some objects that just refuse to be positioned correctly within the game. They are correctly placed in OPS but not in FS. Altering the matrix and transform stuff directly in the .sm/.ol file doesn't seem to give any results either... Could someone please take a look at the file and see what I'm doing wrong? I think the answer lies in the matrix and local coordinate systems but sadly I'm not very good at that.

The objects not wanting to play along are cargo hatches 3,4, the lifeboats, and the stern mast - all of them parts of my sinking model that switches in when the hull has reached damage level 10. The non damaged models works great though so one has to shoot a rocket in slew mode against the hull to see the problem. I'm totally stuck with this issue so could someone please please help me?

I'm also having a second problem with the sinking model - all the polys of the sinking hull are double sided despite that the flags in the LOD to my understanding is set to single sided (it's =90). This leads to some ugly clipping problems on the upper deck so therefor I'm trying to get the hull single sided like all the other parts are but to no avail yet... And why did it decide to become double sided in the first place when none others have?

I still haven't been able to solve this Rather annoying. If anyone have any suspicions or finds out what it may be please post it. I will however be out sailing for a week and can't read it until then. Mvh //Aui

Hmm, lets see:

The polyflag is 90 ? this would be 1 00 10 000 in binary ! the first number (bit?) is 1 = double sided. Keep in mind that the values/numbers in .ol/.asc files/flags are in HEXadecimal and not decimal ! See page 7 here :

Ok, this was that.

Next problem - ugh - OK I'll dl it and take a look..

Well, I guess the parts wich dont position correctly are the sxxxxx named parts ?? If I'm right, you can moce them all day long in .ol and .sm files without any result, this objects are just "replacement-objects", so they are positioned exactly at the same position like the models/parts/objects wich where replaced - bad english -

I.e. You got a box, with its origin exactly in the middle and want to replace it with another box. You problem is that the replace-box has its origin not exactly in the center !
So you need to adjust the pivot point(s) of your damaged models in MAX, so that they fit to the undamaged models.

Tell me if it works !

Ahhh... Stupid me

"So you need to adjust the pivot point(s) of your damaged models in MAX, so that they fit to the undamaged models."

The pivot idea didn't work but I managed to get the objects to the right places anyway by moving them around a bit in 3DStudio to alter their matrices. So now it works!

Thanks for the tips Laika!
