How am i going to do this without killing FPS?

I've been working on the new cockpit framing and this is looking to be a bi*ch..

Any ideas?

I'd go with the rear canopy glass pretty much as it is on the existing model, maybe just reshaped a bit if necessary. For the interior parts, I'd make a single fore-and-aft "bulkhead" part out of two or three surfaces, formed and joined to make hexagonal or octagonal holes.

You could also remove the rear canopy glass, extend the rear fuselage forward to mate with the main canopy, and then graft the rear glass back onto the rear fuselage. This will appear to be a glass part, but will not be transparent since the fuselage will be under it (see birdcage Corsair).

Depends how badly you want to "see" the stuff under the rear canopy glass...

What are those windows(?) good for ? If they are not necessary for the pilot (i.e. to look out) I would "generalize" them, make the forms out of 6-8 sided polys without the "spars". Otherwise I would try to use transparent (small sized) textures.
