Hi.

What do I need to begin designing/modifying planes? I assume OPS is a must? What else should I have?

A lot of us use AC3D as a 3D editor. Hippie's OpenPlane plugins make it very useful (although the UI is a little rough).

My tip: Try to get a copy of the very old (but good) 3D Studio R4 (not MAX).
