Ok, I have a project going (my lips are sealed), and I want to make it so that the MAIN gastank can be dropped off. I tried making it a bomb, but that doesn't work because I cant get the plane to point to the bombs obFuel. Any other ideas?IP: Logged |

I dont know about this, but could you have it as say a pilot (a pilot disguised as a gas tank vise versa) and eject it from the plane?IP: Logged |

Not sure how to make the DOF exactly, but use the famous breaking DOF technique (somebody explain it again, eh?). When the hidden part that is moving is broken off by the wind, you initiate an obFunc that detaches the tank object. Your tank itself can just be a normal fuel tank object (but visible of course if it's a drop tank). The damage models for the DVII, P-47, I-16 and Corsairs have numerous examples of damage-initiated obFunc properties. I think the P-47 canopy is set up to use the wind-initiated breaking DOF to cause the canopy to detach... ------------------ --jedi-- [This message has been edited by jedi (edited 06-30-2000).] IP: Logged |

Argon, Id rather not F*** with the pilots, thats just a road to CTD's . But Jedi, could you explain it in more detail.IP: Logged |

I totally forgot about the breaking DOF thingy! It is awsome when the wind knocks off the P-47s canopy. Aladar, open up the P-47 canopy in OPS and just basicly copy those properties to your fuel tank. Change the DOFs of course and the other tit bits so it slides down instead of back, but make sure it only slides down VERY little and breaks VERY soon afterwards to get the "dropping" affect.IP: Logged |

Ya, this is bascially what I was saying in my e-mail. don't forget to add the onDetach-> engFuelsource 'none. you could even do a test run on the P-38. Open the canopy up in OPS, add that to the canopy properties, then when the canopy ripps off, the engine will (should) stop. If it does, copy all the properties over, set it for a different keypress, then sub in the 3D model of the drop tank. Then your in buisness!------------------ Cheers! Lt. Col. Wouldnt it be more straight forward to have a dof on a handle in the cockpit that detaches the tank when it moves?IP: Logged |

Okay first off if you get to be able to change the engFuelSource property successfully without the engine cutting off please share with me because I could not do it succesfully. For some reason when I changed it no matter how much fuel I had in the other tank it wouldn't work. Just thought you could use that input before you wasted a long time like I did =( there is a bad deal goin on with the fuel properties in sdoe.Subaltern FarmerJoe Axis West Three Amigo IP: Logged |

You could "fudge" the effect. I mean have the button you assign to drop the fuel tank to also turn on a fuel sucking inviso-engine that produces no torque.IP: Logged |

farmerjoe I believe tailslide has done this with his yak.ArgonV... buiding off your idea, you could just set the engine fuel consumption to like 999999999999999999. that will get rid of any fuel you have. IP: Logged |
