Finaly threw away my old Quake modelling bits when I got access to a machine with Nendo installed.

It models nicely, imports & exports .OBJ files nicely, but I have two problems I need help with. I know a few of you out there use this package, so here goes:

1) Can't seem to cut holes. It wants enclosed surfaces only. There must be a workaround, and I would appreciate any help here

2) textures - they come out as a chequerboard puzzle of a texture. Great if you want tartan planes I suppose, but rubbish if you want to paint or modify your textures! They look o.k. when you import them into OPS, so they must be mapped to something....

So, all you Nendo users, HELP! cos apart from the above, I found it easy to pick up, and simple to play with.

I learned how to cut holes by accident. What you need to do is to create 2 identical faces in the solid and then use the bridge command to create the hole. For example if you wanted a tube shape you would create a cylinder, inset both ends, select the inset faces and then choose bridge. This will give you a tube.

Good Luck!

In the menu, go to "help" and then "how to" and you can watch scripts which are 3d objects being created before your eyes. It's like you are sitting there watching someone else show you how to model things. It's very neat and even entertaining and you can hit pause to stop anytime. You can also record a script (just be sure to SAVE first or your objects in the scene will get deleted. You simply hit the { key to start recording, and the } key to stop.

Hope that helps some of you.
