Ok, I have an engine lod and I want to import it into the Dh2.sm file. I go to Object and click on import LOD mesh and it says I need to select a *.obj file. Well the engine.lod is not a *.obj file so how do I get the engine in the Dh2.sm file? Are there any tools I need?IP: Logged |

I have not had luck with that. It is best (at least for me) to use Hippie's builder/extractor for moving LODS in and out of OPS.

The new beta 1.3 will allow you to select .lod instead of .obj files for import.Ver 1.0 also has this capability if you still have that version... ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

Ok, Argon, scrub the new version of OPS. It may have a LOD import feature, but it doesn't work, after you do import the LOD, it looks like swiss cheese. I'll send you version 1.03, it has a functioning LOD import feature. You'll need it, TRUST ME.------------------ Aladars ONLY project, the Bristol Scout "Don't move, if we scatter, he'll pick us off! Just in case I need it, where can I get OPS v1.30? Oh and Aladar, your engine imports now but what textures do you use for it? Right now its using the Dh2 textures and looks very weird.[This message has been edited by ArgonV (edited 06-21-2000).] IP: Logged |

Aladar, never mind. I thought about it and figured it out myself. I said "wait, he said he used the pup prop as a base, so I should import it in there first to get the texture and then cut/paste it to the Dh2"IP: Logged |

Aladar--Well, I thought it was just me, but apparently you've seen it too. The .lod import sometimes corrupts the .lod it appears Swiss cheese is a pretty good description of what it does I'd say. Very weird. On some planes it works just fine tho... ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

The problem was that when I fixed up the LOD importer to work with later versions of OPS, the LOD file I was using to test had the vertices numbered on a '1' based rather than a '0' base. So I 'fixed' it.I can't remeber where I got the LOD file, but I re-tested with a LOD created by the new SMD tool, and found the problem you are talking about and fixed it (again!). I will post it up shortly. IP: Logged |
