The shaking (see http://www.fightersquadron.com/ubb/Forum7/HTML/000821.html ) is gone. It was the dof of the crew position wich was set to 'pitch. I removed the dof-props and huh - it worked. But the crew position (set to 'gun remote) seems to need at least one dof to work (I removed the whole dof and it stops working).

Is there anything else to look at ???

Now the problem is that the gunner does not aim the right way (I rotated his dircetion so that the yellow arrow in OPS points to the tail/backwards. I did the rotation by changing some matrix stuff with olc/smd. It seems as if he aims now about 180 deg into the wrong direction.
Would it work when I reset the x-form of the crew position, so that the "main axis" is the same as in the plane?

Could you explain how SDOE handles the AI-aiming ?

Thankyou !

LK

Sounds like one of your rotational DOF's is upside down..

Naaa - I should explain it better. If I hit F1 (padlock) in the gunners view (wich is absolutely normal and fine) the view is absolute wrong, i.e. the enemy is in front of the plane, gunner still looks backwards (or forwards from his position) to the tail (padlock on). I think the dofs are not the problem.

Laika, so what you saying is that the view is backwards? If this is so I may have an idea. Switch the direction of the arrow. The arrown should be pointing toward the gunposition, not away from it. Then in OPS click on the gunposition and up near the top left of the OPS screen there should be a icon that looks like a little crosshair... click on that to line up the gunners view with the gun crosshair. Also, there probably is some command that tells the gunner to track an enemy. I also suggest looking at the way other gunners positions work on the B-17.

I compared my gun-install with those from the B17, is nearly the same. My crewPosition points in the right direction (backwards -relative to the plane), but my gun-object(with the CGun object and a viewObject as childs) is pointing forward. I don't know how Ai is aiming, if he uses the viewObject or the gun or the crewPos...

Now I'll rotate the gun. Lets see....

Alright Laika! I hope this means we will see the Pe-2 soon! Of course, I also hope that you will do some work on whatever Project X is. Maybe I'm greedy and spoiled, but I want to have more planes!!! :-)

cheers,
charm
