Ok, all this time when Im in OPS my objects are all grey or shades of grey. Ive seen screen shots of peoples projects in OPS and they are textured. How is this done????? I have OPS installed to my windows desktop and as for Hippies tools, they are not installed. Just OPS by itself. Help me here! I want to see textures in OPS!

For OPS to show aircraft textures the proper subdirectory structure must be present for OPS to find the texture files.

For instance if you load Nieuport17 file into OPS from...

C:\Program Files\Fighter Squadron\Media\Aircraft\Nie17c1\Nie17c1.sm

The OPS will look for the misc texture files in...
C:\Program Files\Fighter Squadron\Media\Aircraft\Nie17c1\Textures

OPS will look there because that is where the texture references in the Nie17c1.sm file tells OPS to look.

In your case you are probably loading the xxxxx.sm file from one location but the other shapes and textures are possibly still buried in a par file or some other location on your drive.

Or perhaps the author of the aircraft that you are looking at did not create his model to stand alone but is referencing parts and textures of some other model. If you haven't loaded that model or texture in the proper subdirectory OPS will not find it.

Hope that helps! Ronin

You also need to setup the base media path if it is different to the default (i.e. "c:\Program Files\Fighter Squadron\Media")

As Ronin says, OPS uses the texture paths defined in the files, but since they are all relative to the media path you need to tell OPS what this is.

Thanks guys! I now have textures in OPS, no more grey mass! Now I can actually "see" what I am doing instead of having to go back and fourth into the game.
