I can't get the Yak's shadow to stop flickering in D3D. I tried following SV's tutorial but I just wound up with a flickery shadow in the shape of a yak instead of the current flickery shadow in the shape of a 190. Help !! TS ------------------ Patch It! TS Aircombat

You have a LOD flag set wrong. Just compare the LOD file for your new shadow with the old shadow LOD. You will see that the flag is wrong in your new shadow, just copy and paste the correct flag and rebuild, fixed! ------------------ -Sv =FC= WWI in SDOE!

Hey Tail !TNT2 right ? Same problem as with the prisma of some gunsights I think - I got this problem too, but only with some planes (YAK,BF's,..). Try to use other polyflag values, experiment a bit or just look at a shadow object that works and try this value. If this does not help, it might be that the shadow is wrong "positioned", but I dont understand (=tried it yet) how to change the position of shadow objects. IP: Logged |

Somehow OPS uses (or generates ??) polyflags from old replaced lods, it is better to check "important" flags by hand (and change them if they're wrong). I.e. I often got b0 and need f0 or 10 and need 90...Fine that it works now !!! (keep in mind to spend at least 10 minutes per day with the Pe2 ) LK

But that's the thing.. I hadn't replaced the LODs at all it was still the original FW190 LODs. When I made my own LODs in max and use the material &metal_f0_shadow it reset the flags to the right values. Also I wound up with a blue shadow until I changed the object color in max to black. OPS and PolyFlags seem not to like each other. I saw much weird things. I.e. I created new lods (with no lod before in the object). After 5 or more trys (with "out of memory" etc..) I got it working. but the imported lods did not show up in SDOE. I checked the flags and cruel things where there: material was set to 215 (!) and the flag was 01. I also never swa any object that comes with the right flag-values axis wise. Allways the same axis value for all faces/polys. I hope Bryan will add this to his "ToDo" list IP: Logged |

Going in and setting all the axis flags on every face by hand is a bit much for me.. I think I'll just have to leave them as-is until a tool comes out to set them. TS
