Crazy stuff here, while I was fixing the Dof's for the rear gun I noticed that when the AI aims (if he aims...) an enemy fighter the whole gun thing starts to "jiggle". Of course the AI aims like my grandma would do, and he never shoot at the targets. Why ? Could anyone tell me why my guns dance like crazy ? I compared the dof system with the ones from the shipped planes - hmm didn't find something wrong. A big ? !!!

As you can see: I'm stuck here

Laika, try the convergence tool in OPS to align the guns to the sight if you haven't already..

..the crew-view is fine, and when I control the gun it dont shakes at all, but when Mr. Ai controls the gun he starts shaking like mad in a tremorous way whatever. It looks as if the gun object would have BodyPts and hangs on a other object, but no BodyPts there. The Dof's really look good, only thing is that I rotated the crew position in OPS by 179.xx degrees, could this be the point ?

Tail could you look at your .sm file if it shakes too (I mean the gun ) - try the "Ground attack" mission (what FPS did you get with those 9 Pe2 and 3 Bf's ??).

Laika, it only happens when the gunner is trying to aim at a plane below the travel of the gun.

Also in addition to the missing dash, the shadows have a strange texture on them that looks like metal. When I zoom out the lower levels of detail do not have the gear or bomb bay openings covered.

I never touched the shadows so far (the textures are wrong, cause I changed some texture names, so there is no texture applied to them the right way), the panel is in the works.

I checked the level-lods for the engines, its only the second-lod wich is wrong, I think thats a relict from a backup I used, and I just forgot to replace them with the right lods (and they should be somewhere on my HD ).

Back to the main problem, this damn gunner ! Hmmm - I see this shaking most of the time when the gunner aims anything, no matter if it is below or not, but it could be that when a target is "out of area" the shaking starts. Whatever it is, I don't know how to fix it

I'll do a last try: Actually the gun is rotated in OPS, might be that something works shitty now, I'll replace the rotated gun with a pre-rotated one. Uhm - if this is not the reason, you'll see this topic back on top in some days...

Thanks for "investigating"

Hey Laika,

with my other projects being on hold (or being deadends) I'd love to help out. If you don't mind I'll have a look at the Peshka and see what's going wrong.

Hmmm - you could look all day and find that nothing looks wrong it looks good, but doesn't work

I'll check what I described above (thats actually the only thing thats worth to check) plus the DOF'S, I bet the dofs are gone mad (they look ok for me - who knows). Wait 2 or 3 days and check your mail, if you got none I fixed it - we'll see

Thanks for the offer ROYohBOY !

Since I have worked on the Ju 188 I know that turrets and gun-positions can be tough on you. Good luck, Laika.

I did some copy and paste today, and the B-17 dorsalGun works. I reset the x-forms of my "gun-installment" parts and moved all stuff some feet above the plane. Hmm, it still shakes The only differences between the B17-gun and mine is this:

gunSlew (not explained in the OP-Specification file) - gunRemote (mine)

..and the structure of the objects
..I dont have the dof that makes the gun look like a gun when you fire..

Peter - Could you give me some tips (I dont got probs with the DOF alignment or so..), did you see this "shaking"-guns too ?

Haheeeelp <:| !

I think GunRemote is for remote-controlled turrets; no idea how this really works. IIRC the Peshka's gunstations are more like those on the Ju 88 - this would be GunSlew (gun on a mount with the gunner jumping around to aim). I'm not sure if this is what's causing the problem, but I'd try changing it.

As for the shaking guns: How does it look like? Does it look like the gunner thinks he's using a <Kuechenquirl> (don't know the proper translation)? I've seen that on the stock-Ju 88 too, but as far as I recall it didn't do any harm. I guess it's the AI-gunner trying to aim while the target is still out of his field of fire.

Hmm - the shaking - like a bad tremor - shakes between +/- 5 degrees like mad also when the target is in the field-of-fire. Could also be a Kuechenquirl, and we could switch directly to german - es wackelt wie die Hände eines sehr alten Mannes, bloß etwas schlimmer...

Its not soo easy to switch to german here...
