Hi guys.

Me and Wing It (my partner on the Libelle project) are having problems with vrml import and export.

Is there a limit on the # of polys you can import in one object? Do you have to weld an object before its valid?

And when we export it slaps a little ms on the end of the file like this.

tailboom.WRL.MS < whats with the MS? If I rename the file and delete the MS and Last period its not a valid file as far as max is concernded.

Any headway with my big green stick bryan? Did you get my mail?

The export isn't implemented yet, it shouldn't actually come up as an option.

There shouldn't be a poly limit, and you shouldn;t need to weld. Whats going wrong?

I got your files, hopefully I can have a look tonight

Spanky here...

Ah ok, Wing it wanted to export. Why no export? what if you want to play with a part in max?

I tried to import a really high poly sphere into OPS as a test for how bad that many polys would cripple SDOE.

I think it was somthing crazy like 5000
LOL

Just havn't got around to doeing the exporting yet, you can still use the OBJ exporter. BTW the .ms thing was because the generation of the max script (hence .ms) to line up the parts in max happens outside of the plugin currently and so it happens anyway. This isn't a valid VRML file.

The only hard limit in the plugin is the number of verts per face which is currently 64. I used a third party VRML parser so there might be something going on in that.

I'll try the same thing here and see what happens.

Spanky here..

Well I know OPS crashed while importing the sphere but some of the other stuff might have been so huge that i was inside it and didn't see it import.

LOL
