Ok, I'm having a problem with OPS and the Dauntless. OPS crashed on me and now I can't open the Dauntless SM. I was making a new second level lod for the prop when it crashed. When I try to open the SM, it keeps saying I'm out of memory, but I can load up other SMs ok. Has anyone seen this before?
The size of the SBD5.sm is 704Kb. Is that too big for OPS to handle?
HELP!

Cheers!

I have accumulated about 350 backups of the Yak since I started, this is why

Try using hippie's OL tool to extract it and rebuild it...

I assume the old prop comes only with one lod and you added a new second one ??? Grrrr - I know this problem, its tricky to add new lods in OPS - Thats why I have (not 350 ) a mass of backups and allways 4 ot 5 "unused" .sm files (called A,B,C,...). Whe I do such "dangerous" things like adding lods etc. I use the A,B,C.. .sm's till I'm sure that all is fine, then I save the .sm under its normal name (i.e. Pe2_0306_A.sm). OK.

Adding new lods - I did not find a 100% perfect way for this. But this does often work good:

1. select the object

2. add a new lod

3. make the new lod active

4. give this load a sinfull switchin distance (>lod#1)

5. reload

6. import your model to the lod (make the lod active before you do this)

7. short prayer

8. reload

9. All should be fine

Normally this works for me.

Hope this will help you --

LK

Oh - "sinfull" = "not senseless"

Sometimes when you add the new switchin you'll see strange numbers, might be that they are the reason for the out of memory error. Bryan ?
