Topic: need help with textures off planes

wel wen i load a plane to ops i there are no textures on the planes but some planes have textures but dont have wheel textures wen i want to fly these planes i get a crash to the desktop must i load planes with full textures in ops and how do i get the full textures for the planes------------------ der boom IP: Logged |

Boom!In OPS, look under "view", then "preferences", then on the "general" tab, look what it says in the "media path" display. It should read something like "X:\FighterSquadron\Media\", (depending on where you have installed SDOE). If it doesnīt, change the path so it points to the "media" folder. Close OPS, start it again and try loading a plane again.Hope that helps. Donīt know why some textures seem to work though or why the game crashes when you try to fly planes that donīt have wheel textures. /Robert IP: Logged |

Gagagaga - wait !OK - when I load i.e. the lanc in OPS I see no textures too - cause the textures are somewhere in the dataxxx.par files and OPS can't read them out of it. This explains why you dont see any textures (just a bright white plane). This is what you can do to see the textures of the planes wich come with the PP or the shipped version of the game: just extract the data1.par file to another drive (or folder, call it "data1" or whatever) - use the Parfile tool called "BigMunger" for this. Now look for the path of the textures the plane uses (in OPS) and search these textures in the data1 folder. Just copy them with their "textures" folder to your normal FS/Media folder. The result (however you do this) should be a folder called "textures" in your lanc folder with some of the used textures inside. Can't explain it better, just try it out, it's really self-explaining and not too complicate (now that you know the reason why..).

wel not complicated he, well i used bigmunger or wat ever the name is i selected the start folder and the out put folder i used mij name for the output wel first i got a wave file? then i put .par behind my name and got a par file i couldend just that so then i put .tiff behind mij name and i got a tiff file from bigmunger wel wen i wanted to use untiff.exe nothing happend than i used irfanview but then i got the message unsupported file wel i dont know wat to do now------------------ der boom IP: Logged |

Huh ??? Netherlands right ? Did you speak german better than english ??OK - no proplem ! Start BigMunger.exe and select UnBig. You'll see this : Path to bigfile...(enter somewhat like "C:\FS\Media\Data1.par") Destination directory...(i.e. E:\data1\) Enter your path and destination and click OK. Now computer starts to "extract" the files out of the dataxx.par file into your destination folder. When it is done exit BigMunger. Now look at drive E:\ or whatever destination you used. And there must be a folder called data1 or whatever - with all the usefull stuff inside ! You want only the textures right ? Then UnBig data1.par !!! Search the texture folder under ..\aircraft\lanc\.. !!! So what is your problem here ??? Isn't it easy ? Please dont give me a again ! I dont know what went wrong. Try it again, and if it still dont work - tell me more, I'll try to help you with this. So long - hope it works now  LK IP: Logged |

I tried to understand what you wrote -> dont enter something like this as destination :C:\name.tif Destination should only be a folder !!! Was that the problem ? LK IP: Logged |

wel now i give jou a tumbs up thank jou very mutch it works now joehoe and ich weis nicht ob ich besser deutsch sprechen kan als englisch hehe wel i need to place a new topic have aproblem with the turret i placed on to a p47d its there in the game and i can move it but the guns dont work i pasted the lines tialturret gun 1 to 4 but i into the load out file bud i cant fireIP: Logged |

Fine !Woho - gun's and turrets and stuff - not the easiest to do. You can do much things wrong here !!! If you want seriously start with plane building make sure to read all the tutorials out there and print (and read too) the so called "OpenPlaneSpecification" doc. Loadouts - yuk !! I need some time to understand them half. So I'm never sure what to do, much testing and trial and error, just look into loadout files from other planes and compare. Make sure that the crew-position has a property called "gunList" and list all the new guns her (gunlist ('gun5 'gun6 'gun7 ...)). There is a tutorial that comes with OPS (not sure, might be an extra download), it covers the cut 'n paste of a turret I think. Ja ! na ja dan kunten wir deutsch sprechen su einander ist fieleicht etwas einfacher so habe shon die tutorials gelesen aber steht nicht fiel drin nur wie man etwas auf dem flugzeug zetst nix uber loadouts anpassen na ja dan mal wieder sum nachstes mal ciao------------------ der boom IP: Logged |
