Spanky here..

Hi guys. I get how to place a sqaud by editing the coordinates but what formation do I use?

Or do you have to put each plane in its own squad and place each one indvidualy?

Line Astern is my guess. Then when the planes are sitting on the carrier, they will be behind each other. Just make sure you dont have too many planes in a squad or they will not all fit on the carrier deck and start in the air.

Yes, line astern is correct. You have no way to adjust the spacing for a single squad, so what I used to do when I was making carrier missions was to interleave squads. I had missions with 10 - 12 planes on deck. Usually need 4 squads to get it looking right with large numbers of ac on the deck: see pearl jpegs at www.mosquitonet.com/~blodgett/

Single squads (I had up to 6 on the Akagi, not bad as long as everyone follow take off order )

BTW you can also do this to place aircraft in their individual turnouts instead of lined up at the runway....
