I don't need any but I would be interested in them. The open source sim, FlightGear, does not yet have any external views or a 3D cockpit. It may be possible to use an Open Plane .sm file and extract the data that can be used by the FlightGear flight models, as well as the polygon and textures for use by FG's graphics rendering. A lot of work on FG is being done in Linux, so having all the tools running on the same OS would be convenient. And Enlightenment is easier on the eyes than Redmond95.

I was on the FG developers mailing list for a year or so.. I got some very negative reaction to the idea of including openplane support. I suppose you could go the other way and convert openplane files to flight gear but last I checked they didn't have stalls or spins modelled.

The fact that it was a binary format instead of a text format, and since it was 'just' a format to describe a plane it wasn't anything worth it to conform to someone elses standards. Also sdoe uses 2d airfoils for the simulation and the flight gear sim has some 3d aspects in its FMs.
