Hey guys

OK, so now we're pretty much SOS... but never having worked with all this (thats why I haven't asked for it) does anyone here actually know how to use the DirectX SDK? Seems to me that with Directx7 graphics could probably be greatly improved now for SDOE, also there is source code available for Glide, so does anyone know how to use this stuff to try and get better use of our graphics cards, as MH said, the game was written at a time when most cards could only handle 16bit color, and not only that, they only had a fraction of the capabilities that we have now, could be a massive improvment in FR or display quality waiting to be found.

There are always ways to improve the engine. I've got a number of ideas on the drawing board and I'm just waiting for the opportunity to implement them.

That's one good reason to open up the engine to the community.

Hey, MH.
Why not list those ideas and put an Investigation number on each one. Then when the ones that have been granted the source code could also work on one of your assignments. That way maybe no two people would be working on the same idea. Kind of like not re-inventing the wheel over and over. Just a thought...
