I know that this view sometimes comes up and sometimes doesn't. (For me it mostly didn't). Last night I tried something different, and it came up every time. This is by no means conclusive but I though I would through it out here...When you start AC3D it opens a DOS window - maximize this window. (I suspect that most people minimize this....)
When the graphics window opens, maximize it also.
Now load your model (or import the lod).
Does the 3D view load more often? Less? The Same? I was 3 for 3 last night.
