Spanky here... Hi guys. I had this info already but I have so much crap I guess I must have lost it or somthing. K what I need is really good clear info on how to #1. Place ground objects or squads exactly where I want them, by using a text editor. #2. Set the heading for ground objects with a text editor. Thanks a ton. Also what text editor do you guys use? I tried notepad and its all crammed together. Then I tried wordpad and its all formated nicely but when i saved it asked me the format to save in, I picked rich text and it still saved as a mis. So will wordpad work? Also can you change the mission name in a text editor? I changed the file name and the mission name up top but the mission still didn't show up in SDOE. Once again thanks a TON.

You can use wordpad, but not rich text. Standard text is what you want. RTF adds all sort of hidden formatting that SDOE won't understand. Also I never rename a mission with the text editor. Rename it in the mission editor, do a save as (name).txt I dont know if ground objects have a msnheading option or not (I suspect not), never tried it. (If its not in there, put it in in a simple test mission and see if it works.....) ------------------ Snickers =FC= IP: Logged |

Once you place objects via editing the mission file you can NEVER edit it again with the mission editor or you will loose your work!Set a heading for a plane and copy the heading info to a ground unit, I think this works fine. To find coords, you need to enter something like showcoords=1 in your sdeo ini file. Then turn radar on (alt m?) and you will see your current x,y,z coords! Use these coords in the mis file to set the exact position. Bewhare, you can not start planes on the new carrier, the plane will start about 50 feet above it ------------------ -Sv =FC= WWI in SDOE!

...Once you place objects via editing the mission file you can NEVER edit it again with the mission editor or you will loose your work!...Must not happen everytime then, cause I have done this a lot.... From the mission editor I save as txt and from the text editor I save as .mis Or, maybe I was just born lucky.

I mean only vehicle headings, sorry! If you set vehicle headings and then open and re-save from the mission editor you will loose these headings as they are not supported for vehicles by the mission editor.-Sv IP: Logged |

I use WordPad for the text editing. It shows up better.
