Nat,
You seem to be the only guy that pops out the ground units. Well.. I was wondering, besides making units in AC3D, whats involved?

well I use Max r2, but I guess for ground units after making them in AC3D, and adding a texture, there's very little left to do in OPS, mostly.. DOF's (graon) setting the movement corretly for each gun and turret, setting the gunners view position and gun convergence if needed. But really with ground units all of the real work is in your 3D prog, OPS is just like for the "touching up" afterwards.

If you've made it and it all looks fine in OPS, you'll laso need to creat a ppf file for the vehicle, I just open an exhisting one, alter the name of the vehicle in it, then save it with the same name as the sm file.

If you are really just starting building stuff then I can go into it in a little more detail for you, let me know.

PS, since we can't really make "new" SM files, we edit old ones, by replacing the LODs with the ones you make in AC3D

Well, I replace lods from other ground units, but after I make it, it won't load in OPS. Im always getting those damn Illegal operations.

Yes, that happens alot, but it can depend alot on what you are copying. Don't try to replace the base componant with that from another SM, you can export fro mone, and import it over then one you want to change though

Ran into this on the PBY. For importing lods, go back to version 1.03. Do everything else in the current one....
Also make sure you do it in baby steps, one thing at a time, then save your work.

There should be a copy of 1.03 out there somewhere. If you cant find it let me know and I'll email you a copy....

I still mostly use 1.1.1beta of OPS, I have the latest version.. but find the old one better (no disrespect) I only use the new version to sort out DOF's, not being good at them I need the tools.. lol

I'll upload it through mail or sumthin if you want it, mail me and let me know
