OK, I've been working with OPS a lot here lately. Ever since I found the power of OPS, I've completely redone the Ki-61 so it works with OPS. things that normally took 2 or 3 days, I can do in 5 to 10 mins. Well I've run into a problem.

I just made a new panel for the Ki-61 and its textured and ready to go. But OPS doesn't seem to like me messing with the texture stuff. I've tried to change the Texture path and the size, all that good stuff. But OPS doesn't seem to save any of it. In fact, it change the path to one of the textures to the word "glass". It went from "./aircraft/ki61/main.tif" to "glass". WTF?! This is probably just a Bryan question, but if anyone has ever had the problem or know if I'm doing something wrong, please let me know. I really want to see what it looks like in game. I normally just edit the ASC file
after extracting the SM file, but when I build the SM again it crashes OPS. So I'm doing everything in OPS. HELP!!

Hmmm. I never had OPS actually change any words. It would occasionally not save a property tho.

Make sure you're using OPS 1.21 and also Hippie's newest version of extractor. They have been pretty compatible with each other for me. One problem with OPS 1.21 tho: you can't import a .lod object, so you still have to do that manually or use the older version of OPS. There is a known problem with either OPS or builder "losing" the format on the materials table at the beginning of the .asc file--which of course will hose everything.

When I change a texture in OPS, I just change it using the "names" tab and edit it. One thing to check is the little material flag for the texture in the .asc file. I don't edit those at all (don't really understand em) but I do make sure that the flag for the external texture is the same as it is for external textures on the other planes, and the flag for glass is the same as the glass on other planes, etc.

I´m not sure, but everytime I see such things happen it has something to do with "groups". This is an evil evil thing - i.e. try to delete an object wich is inside a group and you will surely run into proplems. I would try to load an older backup and check wich changes made the problem.

well i got the OPS to Extractor thing fixed. I have the newest versions of extractor but it still screws the materals area up. Also after manualy fixing the texture path, OPS f'ing changed it back to glass. This is really pissing me off. I was doing so good in the progress of the Ki61 till i started working on the panel. Once i started working on the Panel i ran smack into a brick wall!

Oh well. who says the plane must have a new cockpit. Guess i can continue working on the little tweaks.

Are you trying to change the texture path in the texture details box? If so it might do this because I made the field editable but didn't get around to doing the background work. (I think I mentioned that in the readme). If you want to change a texture path do it in the names panel, a pain I know but it will work.

it is probably 'changing' the name back to glass after you load it in OPS because the texture name is now 'pointing' to the first instance of 'glass' i.e. the one in the material list. What you might have to do in the ASC file is change the actual texture reference, but probably better to use the new OL tools and it will work it out if you change the name listed.

When I get around to it I will make it so you can change model names and texture names directly.

Bryan, i played with it more last night. The names is all right, OPS just changed the texture location to the word glass. I've checked everything and tried rebuiling it 4 times. After that, OPS just changes the name back to glass when it loads.
