Well I followed Tails instructions in his post "FM FAQ 6.2" got all the stuff, extractor tools etc. and put them into a file OpenPlane. Them created a folder called PlanePack. But when I go to DOS I type in the DIR enter and do see the files he mentions. Then when I type C:CD OpenPlane it either tells me "Invalid Directory" or "To many paramiters" I have 75% free space on my HD so that aint it... Also when I go to the "Bigmunger" and type in the directorys from and to and click OK nothing happens. Your help is greatly needed for this dumb ass. My hats off to the first pioneers of this program in that they figured it out for themselves. Sorry I dropped out of the 3rd grade and bought that Harley now! Thanks... PsiIP: Logged |

LOL!"Actually" ... There really is no need to use the extractor unless you're importing/exporting parts for a "new" plane ... (I'm assuming your not ...sorry) Hippies extractor was "it" before Bryan Russel got OPStudio up to speed ... If your just looking to play FM-guru (more blatant assumptions ).. There is nothing you can't do within OPStudio ... However ... Make sure you have Windows show "all files" if you moved Hippies tools into a different directory. There is a .dll that remains hidden if you don't show all files and extractor needs it. Lastly your DOS line should like like so: From within the directory that the extractor is in ... extractor "youraircraft" "youroutputfilename" This "should" extract what ever planer you putzing with. I.E ... < extractor P51D Mustang > would extract everything with the Mustang as the filename header. Hope this helped! [This message has been edited by Zurawski (edited 04-24-2000).] IP: Logged |

Couple of small points..."openplane" has NINE letters. DOS doesn't LIKE nine-letter words. I'd rename my folder to OP, or OPwork, or something. Extractor doesn't like a lot of things IF Extractor and the p51d.sm file are in the same folder, you could type "extractor p51d p51d, and it would decompile p51d.sm into a bunch of .lod files representing the parts of the P51D. But if extractor is in the OPwork folder, and the p51d.sm is in the..."test" folder, you'd have to go to the OPwork folder and type "extractor c:\test\p51d c:\test\p51d to get it to do anything. Same for builder. You need to execute it from the folder it's in, and "target" the file you want to build. ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

LOL!I got sick'n tired of typing all that out .. I got smart and made a batch-file, so when I needed to change to a different plane or folder, I only had to change it in the batch file ... I'm so frick'n lazy sometimes IP: Logged |

Thanks guys,K I've gotten closer than ever but, some additional questions. First of all how do I get DOS to show "ALL FILES" in that folder? And what will I need to open say to work on the Yamoto texture files. And I took your advice on the name change and reduced it to \Oplane> Something that has not been clear to me is the separation that is required in DOS, ie; C:WINDOWS>CD:\Oplane(enter) C:\Oplane>DIR(enter) Now that I'm there I have 50 lines showing in DOS but how do I know I am seeing "ALL FILES" Sorry guys, if DOS was an acronym for me it may read "D"ilbert"O"so "S"tupid. Thanks for your help guys and soon I'll be out of your faces. (selling the Harley for book on DOS and I'm now a 3rd grader again) Psi Ok I figured out that its the OPStudio that you work on texture with. I got the Yamoto to the OPS but can't figure how to, and where to get the texture from and how to add it to the object and how to scratch my ass without the aid of anothers hand... [This message has been edited by slk (edited 04-25-2000).] If someone could point me in the right direction as to what the abbreviations translate to ie BMP, and what is the abbr. for a texture file. this post is going to get real big for its done, patience............. OK,Got the unbig to work and unpacked the A/C but their are no .sm's in the files. one other question, if I wanted to do some "texture" does that require a program and if so where do I get it. I only had 4 AC in the data13.par, most of my AC were in data12.par. WAAAAAASSSSSSSSUUUUUUUUUUP with that??? Psi IP: Logged |

The plane packs got changed around since I wrote the tutorial. All the planes used to be in data13.par, now some are in the .par file and some are in the aircraft directory. TS
