I think we could need such a "Standart" for making new planes. Especially for the Damage Model (pilot, engines, tanks). Also for the "problem-zones" like bombs (and bugs?). I mean just a doc-file or so, with some standart code for OPS and some "semi-rules" or notes on names, airfoils, polycount, textures, "how to zip" etc. Unfortunatly I dont got any time to do this and maybe it would be better when one of the respected leaders would write and post it, so we (the normal people) can follow his/her rules.

Or maybe we can put all the aviable tutorials, notes and doc´s in a big pot and cook them about 2 days and release the rest as the major tutorial called "Building planes in 30 days".

I think this is what kopper was working towards with the OPP group - some sort of plane building standardization. Then he started taking a lot of heat from people who just wanted to free-lance. Sorry kopper if I'm wrong here.

Spanky here..

This would be great. I have asked for tuts millions of times. I would write it my self if i had a clue how to do it. But everyone who knows how to do it doesn't have the time.

What we really need is a max building site as there more and more using it.

So until we do everyone that wants to start building will have to teach themselves. Which sucks ass.

What can you do though you can't force anyone.

I have already offered to edit and do the web pages for them so if anyone does want to do any let me know. Even if we start off small its better then nothing.

If I got the time, maybe I´ll write down some things I know. And maybe I´ll post this in here for rechecking. But some things should be discussed and tested/proved first, like "DM-OPS layouts" and such things.

The "plane building standarization" doc should not be a must for plane builders. So if some people are want to keep their free-lance, they dont need to do anything what would come with this doc. BUT if you build a "standarized" plane, you could call it so, and everyone would know that this is a good plane - whatever this is. Also - the people in here are mostly open minded for new ideas and additions...

I think a doc wich covers all possible problems and possibilitys could decrease building time alot (especially for "newbies" like me look at this: http://www.fightersquadron.com/ubb/Forum8/HTML/000055.html ) = more planes. And this would be good for all of us.

Spanky here..

K what I propose is a tut on how to build a simple plane.

Using max. That would help out tons of people. Nice and step by step like SV's site.

I can do the site and even most of the tut. ONe problem. I don;t know WTF i'm doing. I havn't a clue with max.

I need your help.

I'll build a litte high wing plane with one engine and no guns. TO make it really simple.

Even better I'll build a little shack ground object. But only if I get at least 2 other people to help me.

PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE GUYS?

It will add so much for begginers to follow. We all know the first time is the hardest.

After someone makes the shack and small trainer they will be on their way.

I'd love to see a couple of standardized damage models for radial and inline engines.. esp. now that we have a version of OPS that doesn't blow away the obProb statements.

OK Spanky.

If I had a copy of 3DSmax I would make a full step by step guide even better than the AC3D one I made. But sadly, I don't have a copy

If a copy of 3DSmax ever magicaly wound up at 16 Billings Street, Milford NH 03055, well, I would be hard pressed to resist the tempation of using it to create such a document
