Danger ! This is off topic, but I think it belongs more to the tech section.

Ok - my english is not good, so I almost didn´t understand what the problem is. I read the topic in the flame-wars area from whirlwind and I noticed all the rumors in the last days. And now I´m not sure, if it still makes sense to carry on with building new planes ? All I know is that it is much much work for a single person to learn and manage all that stuff wich comes along when you build a plane (especially when it is your first one). I worked 3 months on the I-16 nearly every day, and it is still not really finished but I cant see it any longer. In the end there are maybe 100 or 200 people wich use the plane.
Anyway, now I´m faster cause I know more about 3ds, OP, OPS and such stuff, but I wonder if it makes sense to start the next project. Will my piece of crappy work ever be a part of a planepack ? I´m not sure.

I can say for sure that I´m not able and willing to do all the work alone from 0 to the final release, cause this is a fulltime job (you had to be a modeller, a OPS expert, a OP guru, a texturer, a texter, a mission builder, a painter, a researcher, ...).

Dont put more honey in my mouth (I´m sure this are not the right words, hope you understand what I mean), I know that some people like the I-16 and some even like my "input" to the tech section of SDOE.

All I want to know is, does it make sense to build the next plane ?

Sorry for posting this twice, but my browser makes nonsense all the time. Maybe one of the moderators can kill the second(first) one ?

I love your plane. It is a blast to fly it online. If I have any say in it, your plane will be in the PP. I would love to see what you make next. If you need any help, just ask. I am on ICQ most of the time.

We all like to help, just ask.

I have to say, I'm impressed with how many people are able to handle all aspects of plane building. It is in the extreme an interdiciplinary task and demands a type AAA personality from the builder. I think some of you guys are just plain masochists for taking on the whole task of building a plane. :-)

Personally speaking, though, I much prefer working in a team. That way, I can focus all my time and energy on stuff I'm good at rather than trying to learn how to do everything.

Be warned, though, working in a team requires a bit more organization and coordination, but the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.

Laika,

Um. Your plane is nothing short of a master piece. Being that it is your first, it's incredible. What you'll manage to make when you "get warm" is beyong my imagination. Keep 'em coming, I for sure love what you've done.

Fundamentally, the argument was never about the planes, their quality, the creators, nor SDOE itself. The planes in and out of the contest are great and no small task to make. It takes a lot of dedication and commitment, coupled with discipline, to put a plane together of those that you, Laika 801, and others have contributed to OpenPlane. Neither Razor747 nor I disliked any of the planes nor were we making an effort get rid of any planes we personally disliked. I like them all.

Never was the problem the planes or missions the topic of argument. Just other issues.

Layman's terms - we love your plane.

Spanky here...

Hi man. I love your plane. Its great and a great addition to the game.

Your plane will be in the plane pack but some people feel that a plane has to be finished before it can be added (when ever that is) since yours is on its final release I should think it will be added. I'm sure it could still use some work but it seems that your done with it for now.

Keep on building if you like making them. Cause we will keep flying them.
