Just wondering... Has any of you who are good 3D programmers thought about writing an alternative mission editor with views of the world retrieved from the .par/.sm files, just as in slew mode? I know this'd be heaps of work, but it'd definitely make precision placement of ground objects a lot easier.

hmmm... I was thinking about learning OpenGL again, and I have some .sm file headers. I wouldn't hold your breath in anticipation. I'm a great starter, but a lousy finisher.

I thought about "bending" SDOE to do this when SOS happened. Most of the works done in SDOE, even the slew mode, so it's just a matter of adding a bit of a UI to pick and drop objects and stuff.

For me anyway the misson edit seems to take as long as the actual game to load so theres not real disadvantage there.
