I can't get the tail wheel to steer on the Hurricane, in my copy of SDOE at least. I can get the P51D to work but not on the Hurri.

The AI seems to be able to turn on the ground, although I can't see the actual wheel move. I'm sure it's not rudder as it not moving fast enough.

I have the tailWheelSteer model defined as the steering thing in the main model and the DOF looks right.


Any ideas???

Hmmm, not sure. Mine works. Can I download the sm file somewhere ? I would take a closer look on it.

I'm begining to thing it has something to do with my SDOE installation or something.

Laika, if you can have a look at the Hurri and see if it moves on your system that would be great! The file is at

I lost tailwheel steering for a while but a reinstall seems to have sorted it out.

I really wish we could lock the tail wheel for takeoffs though. Without tailwheel steering the aircraft are far more controllable during the take off run.

Bryan, It works for me as well. I have the HurriBeta1_0 It looks and works great.

Nice job on the Hurricane, it has always been one of my favorites

Yes ! It works fine for me, there must be something wrong with your installation of SDOE (?). Did I allready said that the Hurricane is one of my favorites ? I love that plane ! (!)

when i reinstall SDOE, tail wheel steering was hooked to the joystick when i moved the alerons.. though it wasn't checked inthe options it still did it. there is an option to hook the steering with the rudder. make sure this is checked in the options..

Well I reinstalled SDOE, to 1.5 instead of the beta build 65 and it works now. I don't know if it was build 65 or not but...
