Hi everybody!I'd like to make the big gunpod on the Ju 88C-6 drop when the user presses a key. Is this possible, and how would I go at it? I guess if this is possible we can also have 'real' droptanks (i.e. that really hold fuel). Does anybody know? Peter IP: Logged |

Why don't you make it like a bomb or something. You could fire it.

Jaguar was working on this months ago-- you might want to try and contact him IP: Logged |

You could try this:Make a hardpoint for the tank on the wing. You can use the hardpoint the the bombs are using now, it doesn't matter. Now Make the Drop Tank lod. Make it a child of the Hardpoint. Set the hardpoint up with a dof and an airfoil. Make it so that DOF will rotate the hardopint, and the airfoil (make it happen fast so it doesn't look bad). Set the airfoil up, so that it doesn't effect the F/M of the plane, but when it is rotated, it will create an emense amount of drag, ripping it off from the plane. This will give you your onChildDetach. Then you can use that same thing I suggested Razor use. Or instead of making the hardpoint turn, make a lod in between the drop tank and hardpoint that only has 1 vertex. set this up with a DOF and an airfoil, and make this rip off. This will look better. I am usually on ICQ, so you can reach me there. I can help you better (and faster)than through the forum. 17219346 ------------------ Cheers! Jaguar The FS Hangar IP: Logged |

Jag,I thought of this today, and I think it'll work. Since dofBeginDisabled (and its other extreme) doesn't work at game startup, however, I propose a slight variant to your suggestion (lest I misinterpret your idea.) Use a hidden object, with a rediculously small airfoil that no one can detect anything of. The object with that airfoil has two DOFs, a linear dofOsc that quick as all hell moves it far out from the plane, really far, and one that is a rotational spring DOF that is extremely weak. When the dofOsc is close, the torque produced by airflow and arm length is so minor that the weak spring DOF can handle it without problem, even at high speeds. When the linear dofOsc is extended, the increased torque, due to the lenghened lever, the force of the spring dof will be high enough to cause it to break. From there you can use normal "onChildDetach" for the silly airfoil object to have it release the drop tank and switch to main fuel source. Well, speculation, pure and simple, since I haven't tried it, but it sounds right, no? _ /Bjorn.

Heay, thats even better! Nice one Bjorn. SDoE with drop tanks.... I can see it now BTW I have drop tanks made for the P-51, P-38, and Fw 190, anyone want them? IP: Logged |

Would the same principles apply to something like a German Mistell thing. for those of you who dont know, the mistel projects were the ones where a Me-109 or a Fw-190 was strapped to the back of a Ju-88 filled with explosives. When they got to the target the fighters would unhook themselves from the Ju-88 and it would fly straight on to the target where it would detonate, no doubt obliterating everything within a 100 mile radius! So, back to the Question, would it some how be possible to give the Ju-88 the properties of a bomb and perhaps use it that way, but still keep its flying properties? as you can tell, i cam fairly computer illiterarte so im affraid that if none of this makes sense just try to de-cypher it best you can!IP: Logged |

Thats the same idea Me and Razor747 had for teh mistol. Unfortunately, we never got around to working on it. It would be too high poly, and there would be no way to control, the dropped bomber.IP: Logged |
