First: Someone did somewhere post something to fix somewhat with the rpm or throttle gauge. I didnīt find this topic and I searched a looong time. Please, help me, where is it ?

All work this week was related to the instruments for the Ishak, alot of trials and more errors. But the most things are working now.

I looked through the sm file part for the instruments and a couple of instruments are using the carburetor temperature as data source. I read some topics about rpm stuff and now it seems that instruments like boost or rpm are just for the look of a working instrument but they not show the correct values. So should I model them anyway (I would prefer the use of textures) ?

((( I think we really need a patch or trick to make things like "No over rev ... no over heating ... no seizing ... no fuel loss ... no oil loss ..." (Zurawski the 1st). It dont makes much sense to make an accurate-historical-correct-plane-model when such things are not in the game. )))

Last: I got this gauges now:

Compass (Heading)
Altimeter
Vertical Speed
(true ) Airspeed
odd RPM (it shows only 0 and Maximun)
Clock
Bank
Fuel Indicator
Fuel Pressure
Oil Temp.
Boost (?)
Carb. Temp.
Suction

I still got one instrument left and I dont know which it could be ! Should I make a "borschtsch per minute"-indicator ? Is there anything you miss for the Ishak ?

I changed the DOF's on the Corsair's RPM and Manifold pressure guages to follow the throttle instead of the "engine performance," which doesn't seem to work and only shows "on" or "off" apparently. So if you have the Corsair, you'll notice your RPM and boost changes as you move the throttle. I also added a kind of a gimmick to the engine start routine so that it shows the RPM and boost come up to a low setting when you start the engine, and die off when you shut it down (but that only works exactly right if you start out on the ground).

If you have the Corsair, take a look at the DOFs for the RPM needle and the manifold pressure needle, and all will be explained
If you want to have the little engine-start indication thingy, you need to modify the keyboard.inp file a little--again, look at the one included with the Corsair for a command called 'cmdEngineToggle.

If you don't have the Corsair, (and WHY NOT?) then I can post the detailed instructions of what I did (although I did post em once before I thought), but it takes almost as long to read as it would to download the Corsair

It wasn't a "perfect" solution, because many of the real props are constant speed, and only vary RPM under certain conditions, not necessarily with throttle movement. But IMO a better solution than just having boost and RPM reading max power all the time the engine is running. At least this way you can run without the HUD and still have a readout of where your engine power is set.
