I've been trying to learn AC3D/Open Plane again. This is my latest attempt. I imported the basic shape into AC3D from an FSD file and touched it up a bit. I'm still hopeless at this stuff and haven't been able to progress much over the last week. If any one would like the file (AC or Ops)inorder to get it to a releasable model, drop me a line and I'll send it on over. 'good' points: 1. the smoke works 2. you can land/takeoff on it 'bad' points: 1. guns don't work 2. isn't texture mapped (I'm still learning this too) 3. lods need to be looked at ....correct heirachy etc etc 4. plus probably heaps more Any takers ?? Sure I'd like it! I have to know something, did you do anything in particular to make the flight deck "hard", because that topic has been a nightmare for me regarding carriers. I'd do more with them but gave up since I'd fall through the decks. Any info/insight would be great! Thanks. IP: Logged |

Pete,I did nothing in particular to the hard deck. However, in a somewhat muddled up procedure to import it (because I'm aware of the hard deck 'problem') I initialy opened up the old akargi (hard deck ok) and just imported the lexington lods into it. Ultimately replacing part for part and then exporting the ASC file as 'lexington'. I did a similar thing to get the smoke and guns (from the exeter). Here the smoke worked but guns didn't (maybe because I shrunk them ??). I realy don't know what I'm doing with this stuff, but I'm slowly picking up on things and having fun. I'll send the files to you - but do you have a preference for the file type ? (AC,ASC+lods or Ops) I do have quite a few other ships in FSD format as well.
