I am constantly amazed by SDOE. Today I was puttering around in a FST conversion SM.79 and noticed that plane #1 appeared to have bent wings, but plane #2 didn't. I kept flicking back and forth, and sure enough, whenever the plane pulled back full stick, the wings flexed and returned to normal after doing so. I just spend a few minutes, just being amazed.

BTW, a SM.79 is an Italian 3 engine bomber, which server from the Spanish Civil war until 1950 with the Italain AF. It was well known for it's role in anti-shipping. I have it configured as a SM.79-I. When I finish conversion, watch out Allied shipping (and so I've read, Italian shipping ).

Positive and negitive G forces have been in this sim since day one. I remember reading about it in previews before the game came out. It was one of the reasons i got the game.

I just noticed that last night . The SM.79 needs a bit of work:

- the cockpit
- the top needs a set of dimples added, and the gunpit needs adjusted
- I need to add a bomb bay
- the rear gunner position needs a window, and I am probably going to make it so the rear bit is retracted with the landing gear (the gun hide-away)
- the fuselage needs a port for the side gun (probably going to put two there, unlinked, so the AI will only fire 1 at a time, hopefully).
- the engine nacels need some tweaking
- flaps, airlerons, and tail surface controls need to be cut out
- the textures need remapped.

About 8 hours of work. The plane as it is, will probably be reverted to a level 2 LOD. I still have fun flying around with it. I pit 5 against a 109e7 (non pp) and the non-yawing top gunner managed to get some hits in on the e7, before being shot down.

I have only HP, weights, and some really good 3-views for the thing, but need a bottom view, gun postion rotation angles, control surface deflection angles, interior detail shots, and more details on the loadout (I know it can carry two torpedoes ).

OK Whirl... Let's see what I've got for you. I have info on the S.M. 79-II Sparviero...

You're right about the 2 torpedoes-- usually a 450-mm (17.1 in.) weapon.

Bomb Load- another plane with bombs carried vertically...max load- five 250-kg (551 lb) bombs with tow 500-kg (1,102 lb) or twelve 100-kg (220-lb) bombs as common alternatives.

Forward Armament- One Breda-SAFAT 12.7-mm (.5 in) gun in the roof of the cockpit fired by pilot...a simiar weapon was located at the rear of this blister.

Rear Armament- 7.7-mm (.303-in) gun in waist and a Breda-SAFAT 12.7-mm (.5-in) in the rear of the ventral gondola.

If I can't find pictures of the bomb bay and cockpit, I'll just do what I did for the Staalen (cockpit, that is) and make it up! I learned the imagination game from Seasame Street, you know the one were you pretend you are watching the John Woo uncut version. I did discover I had a photo of a photo of a 202 pit, but I'll probably just by a signal when ever the heck I finish the MC.200, Staaken, SM.79, Beufighter, and whatever else I am working on (PT-17, a flying boat that CTD's).

Did I mention that the SM.79 needs landing gear? Oh lookie, the 17 has simular gear, what a coincedence . I just need to make it a single fork with a smaller tire...

Beaufighter? I can go take some photos of a Mk.21 cockpit and the rest of the plane, too if you need it.

I am getting some good sets of 3 views right now (MY HUMBLEST APPOLOGIES! I FORGOT THE GUY'S CALLSIGN, BUNCH O THANKS! I even forgot to feed the cat this morning...) but any pictures are helpfull. I did get the generic torpedo rescalled and it shows up thanks to the OPP's Ordinance Document.

I've got too many things going on.....

It was Elric that has been nice enough to send me the starting set of some nice diagrams for the Beu IF. It even has the tail dihedral for the Beu II. I can't wait to get the network back up so I can check the model I have thus far against them...
