I'm getting my feet wet with creating planes in AC3d and OPS, but I'm having some trouble right from the start. My understanding of the process is that I extract a 'starter plane' sm into an asc and a bunch of lods. Then I import the asc into AC3D. I build my new plane in bits and swap out my bits for the existing bits. I export the modified plane as asc and open it in OPS. My problem comes up right away when I try to open the asc in AC3D. All the objects come in centered at 0,0. It ends up looking like a pile of odd lods. If I import the individual lods they also come in all piled on 0,0. I'm using AC3D reg. beta 7. How can I get the plane to import looking like a plane? Thanks, LotharIP: Logged |

I know that prior to exporting a LOD, it needs to be centered at 0,0,0 or you can bet the part will show up at the wrong place on the plane. As for .asc file imports, I have found it hit and miss. Some planes it works wonderfully, others it doesn't. There might be a trick, but I don't know what it is . IP: Logged |

I believe that happens if the plane you import has been saved in OP Studio. Start with an original Parsoft plane and you won't have that problem. IP: Logged |

Ok, the plugins in AC3D don't handle ASC files too well. They don't save properly. So you haveto do things the hard way, and edit each individual lod separately.Open the "starter" plane (the actual SM file, not the ASC file) up in OPS. Select the part you want to edit, then export it as a LOD. Import the lod into AC3D, and edit it to the way you want it to look. Export the modified lod from AC3D, then import it into OPS, then put it in the right position. ------------------ Cheers! Jaguar The FS Hangar IP: Logged | |
