Spanky here...

They look decent but they don't look as good as the stuff in the game right now.

BTW my P40 will look better then that for sure.

A buddy of mine dropped this on my computer a ways back and it seems the aircraft are

**** NOT .fst format ****

but rather....

.fsd
.fti
.fkf formats

Can someone please check AC3D, Creator,ect... to see if these file formats are supported.

Rattler, you should be able to use the .fsd files to bring those planes over to SDOE.

I am far from an expert on the subject, but I have been fooling around a little with AC3D and .fsd files.
You need Hippie's plugins and extractor for AC3D.
There's a file in Hippie's tools called fsd2lod. This takes the .fsd file and turns it into a lod(s) that you can import into AC3D.

After that I'm lost. I've been importing things like planes, carriers like the Yorktown and even a torpedo. It's neat to see them in AC3D. Some of the things don't look to shabby for being a couple of years old.
The pictures you showed look like it might be from a more advanced version of Flightsim Toolkit (FST).

Pete Hawk has had some success getting .fsd files over to SDOE. The A-4 Skyhawk is one example.

Maybe someone could tell you how to get them from AC3D to Fighter Squadron. But those planes could be used in Fighter Squadron if the .fsd format is the same.

Just don't forget that the work doesn't end with the 3D model being ported. For some of us, that's where the work begins.

Bjorn,

Exactly. The work only begins when you import an FSD file. The Skyhawk as the example, it's like this. Using Hippies tools I went from FSD to LOD using his FSD2lod.exe program in the extractor.zip pack. Then, highlighting my F-15 main shape in Open Plane Studio, I imported the WHOLE A4 Skyhawk LOD just to test it out. I then hid (by changing LOD switchin distance to 1 instead of merely deleting them) all unnecessary LODS and kept the A-4 and the landing gear. This is a good way to test out new planes, to see how they look overall.

What comes next is using something like 3DSMax to "breakdown" or detach all the parts by going into EditMesh mode, highlight say a wing, and detaching it. I don't think this is possible with AC3D. But it IS a lot of work to detach everything, texture map them, and then import them into an existing SDOE airplane.

All of my models are on hold right now since I got a new job and am leaving the USAF this May. I'll post more info about it as it gets closer, but it is a 3D graphic artist position. (not with Inertia, which I bet you'd think if I didn't say something)

Rattler,

Cool

They should work fine in SDOE.
