I think I'm not alone in being totally psyched with the new Corsair, as well as the screenshots of the other Navy planes on the way... but, what about the Japanese? Is anybody making any inroads on other a/c besides the beautiful Zero we have? I would love to see a Betty, but I think we probably have a ways to go before we get to bombers... how about a D3A Val? Seems to me that if you start with the zero as a base, just lengthen the cockpit and wings a bit, cosmetic changes to gear and elsewhere (OK, maybe that's a bit optimistic), throw in a second pilot model... it wouldn't be too far out of reach. Anyhow, if anybody is interested, I'd be willing to help out in a team effort!charm IP: Logged |

I am making ki-84, and most of the high-deital LODs are finished. But, tons of addtional efforts will be needed, such as low-detail lods, cockpit, skins...etc.Although I love to make Japanese bombers, I do not think it's a good idea to spend a lot of time on making Japanese bomber. How many people would love to fly vulnerable Japanese bomber only to become "turkeys" for AIs or other players. One alternative idea might be to make them only non-flyable, so that precious time would be spent on making lots of other Japanese bombers. Cheers! IP: Logged |

I'm tinkering with one or Two Jap planes now modeled from existing aircraft, but it's mainly as a learning tool for AC3D (you know, the old pull it apart - put it back together routine and see if it still works).I can't see them reaching beta for a long time though, if at all. Geez Razer, I can't wait to see them pics ! Cheers, AGAS 5 ------------------ Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation IP: Logged |

Spanky here... I think we do need some Jap bombers. And a jap dive bomber or 2 would be good too.
Balence out the addition of Japanese planes.

I read a post from Pete Hawk once, where he said he got a good jumpstart on aircraft from some files sent to him of some FST aircraft.Well, I've got some files of a.......... Kate Val C-47 TBF Avenger SBD Dauntless TBD Devastator ect...... From a sim,I ought not mention, that never got completed Might someone be willing to pick these up and run with them? .FSD .FTI .SUR and .FKF files Would these be importable into your 3D modeling programs?

Rattler,Are these portable into AC3D ? Will Hippies 'Builder.exe' put them into the correct format ? I have FST as well. Cheers, AGAS 5 ------------------ Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation IP: Logged |

AGAS,I don't have AC3D, and I haven't tried my hand at aircraft modeling.( no programing experience at all) So, thats my question, are they portable and would they be of any assistance? They are very close to SDoE aircraft in many aspects. Total 3D cockpit, and many of the same features. Just waiting to see if anyone knows if these file types are supported. Rattler IP: Logged |

Hippie has tools on his site to convert FST planes into AC3D format. From there, you can do anything I've got FST as well, but I never really did much with it.Maybe I'll have another look tho. For one thing, it had some nice tools for building cockpits...

You definitely can port FST stuff into OP with hippies tools. You just need fsd2lod. I can't seem to get it to run from anywhere but where I put it (too much stuff in the OpenPlane directory, oh the gluttony). Anyways, you use it by typing:fsd2lod <source path><source file name> <destination path><destination lod prefix> <starting lod number> You don't need any extensions on the files, Hippie made it nice enough so we don't have to. As it is, most fst planes have 4 LOD levels associated with them - from 'high' detail to stick plane (literally). I goffed off with porting over the SM 79 I got off the net tonight. CTD's right now, but I am missing something. BTW, is roadtoad still around? I have a P-61 converted to .lod pieces for him. I can convert it to OBJ for Nendo if he wants (import into OPS, export, import, export *snicker* - nice tool BR). IP: Logged |

Many thanks Wirlwind.Rattler, Im no expert either. Far from it in fact. I'm only just starting out with AC3d & Ops - at the moment just tinkering you might say. I'd love to tinker with these aircraft. Can you post or send the Jap aircraft to me ? Cheers, AGAS 5 ------------------ Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation IP: Logged |
