Carriers were included in the 5.2 plane pack, I'm not sure if they're in 5.3. I do known that we have a couple versions of the Akagi, A saratoga or two, and then another japanese carrier which has a name beginning with S. Check out some of my old screenshots with carrier launched planes at www.mosquitonet.com/~blodgett Also people were trying to get a hook and cable system to work, but Im not sure if it ever got completed. We rans some big pearl harbor missions back in November 1999. See in in the Skies Tigger, welcome aboard! IP: Logged |

Yes, there are carreirs in PP5.3 The large Akari carreir is the best one to use. it's large and you can land on it.. I'm still not sure how you set it up to take off.

Don't know about the large Akagi or Satatoga, for the small Akagi set the planes enroute, Alt 205 Hdg 0. Velocity 0. If you placed it on the deck, you will start out there, ready to go. As I said, I didn't try it with the larger carriers as the Akagi does quite well. I would like to see a WWII size carrier (Allied) in addition to the others...

The new carriers do not work as far as starting a plane out on deck- they start out above the carrier- we need to fix this!! *wink wink* AFAIK- these are the only two. I don't know of any other Japanese carriers- unless you saw a screenshot of my Midway campaign where I renamed the Akagi to another Midway carrier- the Soryu. But as far as actual carriers go- we just have the two versions of the Saratoga and Akagi.IP: Logged |

If you course through my old site crap, there is another carrier (lacks a DM, the dang AA doesn't fire, and it needs a texture job). It is a representation of the Sagnamon, an escort/tanker carrier, perfect to fly the F4F/FM-2 off of.IP: Logged |

Ahh... I did not know that! That would be a good thing to get out of mothballs, Whirl. Maybe send a copy to Pete Hawk and let him work his magic ...not that he isn't busy enough IP: Logged |

I am working on my version of the Akagi. It has the right dimensions and I plan to put the correct number of AA guns on it. Right now, it has 8 25mm cannons. I need to add 20 more 25mm cannons and 12 4.7 inch cannons.When done it will have 7 separate parts that can take damage. I still can't put a fighter on it though. Here is the picture when it just had 6 25mm cannons: [This message has been edited by mposis (edited 03-01-2000).] IP: Logged |

On my system, I saw a dramatic decrease in frame rate when all those guns on the Akagi were firing. How will this be when you add 20 more guns and more cannons, mposis? I would love to see the retextured Akagi be #1- more FR friendly and #2- landable (I don't think that's a word, but it's 1 AM) I have a Midway mission where the SBD's are diving on the 3 Japanese carriers, and the AA brings FR down to 10-15 and the planes that were historically on the deck full of fuel and bombs won't start out there IP: Logged |

Spanky here... I'm a bit worried about the FPS too with all those guns. Is there LODS in yours ? and i would think no allied plane could get within miles of the thing cause the guns in this game are so damn acturate. Does anyone know a good site for ww2 carrier pics? IP: Logged |

Yes it has a lot of LODs.It is easy to take parts out so if the FPS is too low then I just have to take out some of the guns. I think I know why the flak in SDOE is so deadly. The gun ammo are too powerful. I was looking in the flakpanzer asc file and found out the the gun warhead values varies from 7 to 15. I thought the real flakpanzer only had 4 20mm cannons. The gun warhead value of the 20mm cannons on the 109s and 190s is only 0.06. [This message has been edited by mposis (edited 03-02-2000).] IP: Logged |

Spanky here.. Great investigating mposis Why do a DM update on all the planes if we don't touch the flak guns right. Yeah your right about the Akagi you can do it up and tone it down if need be. One word on the deck texture? is that temp? cause i though i saw one that looked really cool. Are you going to try adding elevators? IP: Logged |

Now there is a fun thought, start the F4U on the elevator with its wings folded. Youve got to wait for the elvator to get to the flight deck, get into position and then take off..... {evil chuckles in the background....}

Spanky,Right now I don't plan to model the elevators. You can change the texture just like any plane. It now has 16 25mm cannons and it only seems to slow down if gun smoke and tracer smoke are enabled. It is also the first time I heard the gunners groan when they get hit and die. It like the view when you see all those tracers coming at you from those guns. IP: Logged |

so does that mean that individual gun emplacements can be destroyed?? that'd be wicked cause it'd allow you to strip the thing slowly of it's defences and see it slowly mask out in smoke as more and more damage is applied to different parts.. wicked IP: Logged |

Well crap, John Boy, I'd better get back to the torpedo then. It is a generic looking german torpedo based off a cut-away I have of a He-115 flying boat. Single fin jobber. I know it won't live if it hits the water. The approach: Give it a 1000m glide path when dropped at X altitude (who knows what the standard X is?) X is the height needed to drop a torpedo safely, and allow it enough time to arm, but not detonate.IP: Logged |
