Sebulba - Whoa man, put down your torch and pitch fork and slide on over to the WWI forum. Jetlag has posted a similar (although more diplomatically worded) query to that effect, and I'll bet you his is going to solicit a more constructive response...

I agree with Sebulba

Werner, I think Sebulba's is just being enthusiastic

I think the reason that there are not more betas around is for two basic reasons. First, people can be worried about being critisized, especialy since beta planes have so many issues. But after sticking my planes out in very bad form, all I can say is that the further encouragement is great! Also the constructive critisism is extreemly helpful and helps the final plane meet people's expectations more - also the critisism comes with over--done by welcome praise

Second, it is a pain in the back to release a plane! Ziping up the files, writing the readme, making a mission, fixing the last few million bugs - and finaly uploading it all and posting at the forum. It takes me as long to post a beta as it does to make and texture a full fuselage!

So for now I guess we just need to wait impatiantly for the new betas coming. I am very glad that we get screen-shots at least! The wait is kinda fun too. Plus the best part, it puts my planes in the limelight! - I have no competition LOL

The WWI planepack is something I can't stand the wait to work on. The planes will be balanced (as best we can for V.1) for DM/FM - missions will be made - squadrons created. Then it's time to fight these on-line!!!

I really can't wait myself Sebulba

So far my beta "experience" has been sorta "bittersweet."

Took me a whole day to clean up, set up, and post up my beta version. When I expected it to take an hour or so. After I had already "test-beta-ed" Condor once

I was reluctant to do it, and "tip my hand" and expose my work to criticism.

But NOW, I know that it does work on a variety of systems, and ALSO, that there is a major problem on Glide systems. I don't think I would've wanted to find that out on contest day

So, anyway, my advice is to take a day off from actually programming, and build your zipfile and do a couple of missions. You have to do all that stuff anyway eventually, so why not give it (and us) a test run.

I bet SV would agree that what you learn from releasing a beta is worth the effort of doing it...

I'm not going to release the Staaken. I'm just going to post screen shots and tell you all about the mission related to the screen shot.

When I get bored of that, I'll convert the Zeppelin-Staaken R.IV to a R.VI, and then post screen shots and tell you all about the mission, about a week later.

When I get bored with that, I'll send a copy of each to the rest of the WWI PP guys and then we'll all take pictures of it while we are online and tell you all about the mission in after action.

When we get bored with that, we'll start the whole process over with a different really neat plane. I know, it is a lot of fun sharing one's work .

I'll release the Staaken as beta when I texture it......

Heya,

Here are some pics of the latest version of the DVII, they have been edited for your protection.

The Dvii during a sweep mission, that happened to end with the downing of 3 aircraft and 2 balloons.

The new cockpit is looking fantastic, thanks to finally finding actual CP photos.

Heheh, Sorry I couldnt resist

Actually the DVII is getting real close to being done. As I have said before, Raider and I will not release a plane before it is done. We have done beta testing online a few different times. We hope to have some more test soon, so if you see us around and testing, just ask to take part So till its done, I m afaid there wont be a official type beta release.
