(For some reason I can't post to teh previous thread).Semmern, The nose of the 190 was first lengthened with the introduction of the A-5. The default A-4 is inaccurate regardless of the length: "On the basis of data collected during tests of the experimental Fw 190A3/U1, Blaser's designer team became convinced that the planned additional armament would move the plane center of gravity forward. The best solution to offset this was to move the engine forward. This was done with a 15 cm steel tube engine mount extension. This change (new engine mount) was introduced on the all production lines. This also led to an increase of the plane length to 9.10 m and gave life to the new Fw 190A-5 variant that from November 1942 replaced previous the A-4." Fw190A-4 Fw190A-5

semmern,I also can't post in the last thread. Actually, this model is longer than the default FW190A4 in the game by 6 inches. The FW190A8 is 12 inches longer than the one in the game. According to all FW books I have the longer nose started with the FW190A5. I forgot to credit Zurawski for the FM and Parsoft for the original model. Yardstick for the textures. Hmm, other thread's broke...Here I was thinking of "asking" mposis to spruce up the A-4 and he's already done it! I thought of something more though. Any chance of adding a rotating texture of the engine fan inside the cowl ring? It would add a few more polys to the model I suppose, but it would look really, really cool. IP: Logged |

Thank You Guys !!! It looks just like the captured one that Grumman used to base their Bearcat design upon! This old toad prefers fun things to fly over hysterical accuracy anyway, but this one isn't just beautifully detailed in the skin and shape, it flies great - in no small part because it has nearly perfect trim! Only glitch I can find in this near-perfect beta is the canopy and map view are opaque to me, so I have to fly F2. Really looking forward to the final release! p.s. is this how you hybrid this short-nose?? IP: Logged |

The reason you can't post to the orginal is because of the current transition of Tech Info and Projects into Tech Talk.IP: Logged |

Road,The textures you need for the canopy are shared with other planes in PP5.3 so the 'new' A-4 (A-3) will look pucker once you have the PP. ------------------ Yardstick painted this

Thanks guys, Sorry, I forgot to include all the tif files because they are in another directory. I sent the 109g fix to Yardstick so the PP should be out soon. I think they were waiting for that fix. I like the 3d models to be as accurate as possible. If it wasn't for the framerate, the models would have more detail in them. The worst one is the bf109g. The nearest lods has about 1000 polygons. The default FW190A4 in the game has about 700 polygons. juzz, Do you have a video of a FW190A with the rotating fan? I have to know how it looks before I can decide to do it or not.

Sorry, I think I've missed something here. Is the SDOE A3 a model of the real A3 or a more accurate representation of the A4? Given that, is the SDOE A4 a model of the real A4 or some screwed up interpretation of the real A4?Sorry, this is pretty confusing! Werner,What MPosis has called the A-3 is in fact a much more accurate version of the shipped A-4 with better 3DO, texturing and cockpit. The A-3 and the A-4 were pretty much indistinguishable visually (I think the armament differed). For more information go to : http://pol1.prairie.ca/~bigbear/agseries1.htm Ideally the I would like to see the A-3 (A-4) replacing the shipped A-4 in the PP but that is not my call to make. If enough people want this for PP5.4 it could happen. ------------------ Yardstick painted this

roadtoad,You can now download the needed textures from: http://www.erols.com/mposis Or you can just leave the canopy open. IP: Logged |

I gotta say guys, we can't we have both an A3 and A4, we all know there were alot of 190 variations, but I don't think it a bad thing to have as many as possibleIP: Logged |

Nat - I would tend to agree with you but with one caveat. If the variation is so slight (ie - weapons only - no performance changes) as to make no difference in the performance of the aircraft there would be no reason to have the 2 variants. Each individual plane takes up a fair bit of space and having two virtually identical aircraft seems like a waste of that resource. Just my.02 -Stark{GS} IP: Logged |

The visual difference between the A-3 and A-4 was a new antenna mount on the fin(different radio). Armament on the Fw190 was the same from A-2 to A-5. A-6 introduced MG151/20 outers, and A-7 the MG131 cowl guns.I don't have any video of the Fw190A's cooling fan rotating, but I believe it rotated in the opposite direction to the prop. IP: Logged |

Spanky here... I would say get a good pic from the front and look at the shape of the fins. I would guess that they pull air in so you could get the direction of travel from those 2 things. Speed is a different thing though. I would look really cool and i think it is worth the time if it doesn't take days hehe.

As someone with a bit of an idea of how much work is involved (and as someone who doesn't have the 2_gigahertz box needed to run a fully authentic bird), I want to say thanks again for this beautiful looking and flying airplane!IP: Logged |
