What plans are there for bombers in the WWI pack? Is someone working on the Gotha, or DH4a or 9a?

Spanky here...

I can't really get into ww1 until there is bombers. I already get so sick of dogfighting. Big ass fragil bombers would rock.

Hi Pang,
I started a DH4, but it's on hold until I get the terrain sorted.

I just bought one of those 'in action' books, more specifically 'de Havilland D.H.9 in action.' If the Staaken actually flies, and the Viper actually looks better than dirt, then I'm going to tackle that. I gotta do something while my wife is working 4 hours a way... I am just wondering how to simulate a bad Puma.

I might be doing the Staaken R.VI, but right now, it is being based off of about 4 pictures I have of a Staaken R.IV.

The Hobby shop also had 'Bristol Fighter in action' and 'B.E.2 in action' I picked the simplest looking of the three. For those B-25 groupies, they also had 'PBY-1 in action'.

The publisher for the series is squadron/signal publications. There is more details in the book than you'd even want to try to shake a stick at.

Ok, you want BIG? How about letting me do the Handley-Page? That monster had a 126 ft wing span with four Mercedes Benz 350 hp engines, and carried over 3 TONS of bombs!! Does anyone know if there were any in combat service? I understand they were late in the war, and may not have been delivered before the war ended. Another what-if project mebbe?

Some Handley Pages were. 550 of type 0/400 was build in Great Britain. In april of 1917 they started seeing daylight bombing in France.
Type 0/100 was used on the western front from nov 1916 - some used even till the end of the war.
Not sure about the version you're mentioning with four engines though.
But the Zeppelin Staaken R (that Whirlwind may be working on?) was also another big plane used in the war - 42,2 meters wingspan (HP 0/400 had 30,5 m) and four engines. Still not the biggest though.

Hi Nuum,
Any pics of Dh4 would be great, I'm trying to find photos of 55th sqn RFC planes (my great uncle served with them with W.E.Johns
of Biggles fame)

<pang bows his head in shame>

Ok Whirlwind, yours is bigger.

I can't wait to see these things being attacked by hoards of little SE5's, Nieuports, Fokkers, Albatrosses etc. Too fun! And there is just so much to choose from, the list is practically endless.

Oh, the model of Handley-Page I was noting was the V/1500. Perhaps the 0/400 would be a more widely used plane for us.

Just don't fly into my Staaken, you might scratch the paint . I just finished the tail (I'm not gonna LOD the thing, I'm just learning from it, I'll mail the .ac file off when it is done so they can LOD it. It will be a totally from scrach plane, just a learning thing, it'll fly.
