Hello,
Well I have finally decided to jump into the OPP and have picked the B-26 for my first model. I have a great 3 view and the NACA for the wing. I could really use a little guidance though with the 3 levels of object detail and how that is done in 3dmax. Also what are LODS i have looked everywhere for a def, and cant find one, which is odd. So all the help i can get on the whole modeling aspect would be greatly appreciated. BTW im taking numbers for people who would actully like to make this thing fly.
thanks

Count me as #1!! I can't help with the modeling too much, but if you need any research done, I have a lot of books and pics. I can also make some new squadrons specific for the Marauder...e-mail me if you want any help in those respects!!

LODs - Level Of Detail. The idea behind it is to swap out different polygon (face) count models in relationship to the viewing distance. The closer you are, the more faces and details there are, the farther, the fewer the faces and details there are. Kind of like a tree - you can't see all the cracks in the bark until you get closer to it.

I beleive that SDOE uses it's own file format, also called lod, but there have been numerous people charging to the front and writing converters and such.

I rather hate doing LOD myself. You basically are taking a model you spent hours doing and removing details and faces from it. I am probably making a mountain out of moe hill... actually LOD is just the opposite..
