Spanky here.. for sure man. I would be happy with a non moving train at first parked in a rail yard iwth a nice plume of black smoke rising out of it. IP: Logged |

With what Pete has done, you guys should realize that is exactly the way to implement moving trains. IP: Logged |

I think it would be cool to destroy a train with my Typhoon.------------------ Watch For Falling Focke-Wulf's IP: Logged |

Pete, You are the King. To get the train to move up and down hills. Can we put an invisible rope on the front of the train say 300 feet long with a rotate dof where it attaches to the train so the rope can move up and down. Attatch the other end of the rope to a translate dof that is 100 feet above the train. Add a rotate dof so the rope can move up and down. Hopefuly the Translate dof can pull the rope and allow the train to move up and down over the hills as its contact points follow the ground. Like using a rope to pull it. Pete, I would try this myself but right now I barely have enought time to read the forum.

Pretty short jump from trains to moving TRUCK and TANK convoys, eh???There are already roads in the sim, the coordinates of the bends and whatnot are fairly straightforward to determine, so it seems we could make these tank and truck convoys move along the roads, couldn't we? And of course the tanks and trucks blow up You could also use the road coords for the starting point for a "train track" object that would be put into "train missions." Seems like a math weenie could figure out precise timing to make the train go up and down hills too. (oscDelay 523 then do DOF trainUP then oscDelay 619 then do DOF trainLeft etc etc). My head hurts already. Think I'll stick to airplanes. Maybe the Havoc or the Macchi after the Corsair. ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

Oh yeah, I forgot. Instead of having a "train object," have a "locomotive," a couple of different kinds of cars, and a "caboose."Then, when you build your mission, place a loco, 10 or 20 cars right behind each other, and the caboose. Give em all the same speed and instructions, and they'll snake around the corners, over the hills, etc like a real train. That would hinge on having the sim itself activate the instructions on mission start of course, since you wouldn't be able to hop to each car fast enough

jedi-My vote is for the Macchi as we are near completing the Italian Nation- with pilot voice wavs and everything- would be nice to have an appropriate plane to fly IP: Logged |
