I need help with collision points...

Can someone who knows how to do this please explain it to me?

Every time I try it seems like the points end up in random places. I have used the special OPS version to see where they are. The ones that were there all ready look good, but I can not figure how to add them. I am using the DOF technique now, but I am confused about coordinate systems and stuff...

Much thanks!

Sv,

I just load the LOD in AC3D and take the coordinates of the point I want and add it to the asc file.

You mean you get the coords from AC3D? How do you do this? Is the scale correct? I don't quite understand yet... Sounds very cool though...

Sv,

Select the edit mode as vertex and then select the point you want. Go to the Edit menu and then select "Move to". This will come up with a pop up window giving the coordinates of the point.

You don't have to worry about the scale because there is no specific units in AC3D it just plots the numbers that it gets from the LOD.

That worked great! So much faster and accurate, thanks! The next version of my Albatros and SE5a no longer sink through the ground.

I did have to fool a bit with what parts had points. The rudder on my albatros sticks up the highest, so I addded a obBodyPt to it, it still sank into the ground when the plane flipped over. So next I added a new point to the fin, then the rudder point worked!?!

Does anyone know why? My guesses:

1. Collision points are hiearchical? So a rudder collision is past the the fin, which passes it to the fuselege? Hmmmm...

2. Collision points must be on a part that is referenced from the fuselege via the wing 'leftwing 'rightwing kinda stuff? I doubt this one...

This is a big impreovement, thanks!
