I don't have the time to document as much as I used to, but I do want to put at least some info up...What would you like to see? Vote if you are intested, here are some ideas: 1. I just added a moving control stick to the Albatros. IMO it adds allot, and not many polys! It has been done on the Spit, so it is no secret but I can go into a step by step if anyone wants... 2. Shot up instrument panel/guages. For my new Albatros, when the fuse gets damaged one of the guages shatters - it looks like the cockpit took some hits - close call! This is like almost like oil smear with the spit but I use modee replacement instead of showing a hidden part... 3. A general "how to use model replacement to show bullet holes" etc. This can be added to the WW2 planes - I think it might be cool - at least the wings maybe. 4. How to build that leather binding around the WWI cockpits from scratch. I just did this for my albatros. It was a terror until I found the trick. This trick also applies to texturing any long skinny winding poly trail that just won't stay aligned to an axis! 5. How do update shadows. -and avoid that flicker shadow that you see on some planes Feel free to name any other topics you are interested in... ------------------ -Sv =FC= WWI in SDOE!

Spanky here.. Well those all sound good. "A general "how to use model replacement to show bullet holes" etc. This can be added to the WW2 planes - I think it might be cool - at least the wings maybe" AND "showing a hidden part" Your the man SV keep up the great work.

Me too Sv! I'm with Falck. Your pages are the best! Keep it up. I'm up for anything you put out there. All your ideas are great ones and eventually I'd love to see them all!! IP: Logged |

How about a nice FM tutorial? Right now I have a really immature Viper flying in a straight line (after about 1.5hrs of tweaking) but don't try to turn! I am talking flat spin. The flying straight bit resulted in using the wingtips as soon to be hidden 'live wings' because an inverted V wing setup is inherently unstable (which is why the F4U was such a good fighter plane, but a biatch in a stall). Too unstable for me, unfortunately. A 30 degree inverse dihedral is a bit much to compensate for now(I'll make a better effort later). I'm a bit lost at figuring how the wing area for the airlons and flaps are accounted for by SDOE, since they don't have their own airfoils (well, the 262 doesn't) or wing area. COG's are rather easy to tweak (yet still eat time) with OPS.IP: Logged |

Good idea Whirlwind,For now try this: For the Viper I would not make the current wings "real" wings, just make them 3D objects. To do this, just remove the airfoil properties. Now add 2 invisable wings, they don't need LODS attached. I would copy the two exsiting wings to use for these wings. Then simply delete the LODS for the two new wings. Whats left is the airfoil and airpoint (direction the lift and drag will be applied). Then you can edit these wings for FM use. As far as how Ailerons are modeled, I think it pretty much goes like this: The Aileron parts you have play no part of the airleron FM, they just look pretty The aileron (or trailing edge as it is called here) FM is modeled as part of the wing airfoil. The wing airfoil has charts for normal, trailing edge down, and trailing edge up. I imagine the in between values are interpolated. So you would need to edit the airfoil to update the behavior of the ailerons. I think flaps are all caned, calculated off of the wing specs or something. -Sv IP: Logged |

Hmmmm... good idea, I'll just cut and paste the 262's wings on the fake wings (gotta keep it realistic) then move the wings to where I want to. Good idea, SV. The down side is, I have the elevators attached to the viper wing (oddly, they stopped working, and when I tried to correct that, the inner set of flaps started doing the job, so I just deleted the elevators and ajusted the flaps). How will removing the airfoil data affect them? Also, does setting the propeller weight to 0 remove the torque? I plan on getting the Viper up to 1,800m/s per specs and the torque will be a killer. Interesting note, airRuntime x sets the movement speed of an airFlap or airControl. x = time in seconds. IP: Logged |

Ok,How to create leather binding is up. How to create a moving control stick is up. Next I will put up how to edit shadows... -Sv IP: Logged |

SV -I sure have appreciated your tutorials! You writing style is just right. Enough detail to get the job done in an interesting to follow format. Consider this another request for a tutorial on flight modeling editing! Thanks, Ronin IP: Logged |

Any tutorial you do will be great! Bjorn has already covered adding a moving stick, and gague damage in his "cook book" http://www.fshangar.com/area51/documentation.htm ------------------ Cheers! Jaguar The FS Hangar IP: Logged |

Yea Jag, most of this stuff is out there, that's how I figured it out myself LOL! I just try to make it easier by going step by step and trying to put up some screen shots, etc. There is tons of great info that can be found at the OPS site thanks to the likes of Bjorn, Tailslide, JT, Bryan, Kopper, Zoycite, Werner, Ronin and more! These are the guys (among others I forgot) who actually do all of the poineering work to figure all this cool stuff out! I just steel their stuff and stick it on my site But did I mention screen shots? Thanks everyone for working the figure this stuff out and answering my questions. -Sv IP: Logged |

TS, that's easy, put retracts on it and set down at the nearest airbase . You can land on water, but only once....IP: Logged |
