Pete Hawk Pilot	posted 01-29- 05:44 AM I was just messing with the rockets and various properties just now, dreaming of a V2 site that had a working launchable rocket. I setup a P-38 with his rocket pods pointing straight up at a Dover airfield. I sat in the Tower and proceeded testing. Here's what I found. No matter what I changed in the rocket.sm file it would not effect it at all! An I'm about 100% sure that was the right rocket. What's up with that? I reduced the weight from 106 lbs to about 2, and I even messed with the inertia properities also. No matter what they'd always fall back to the same spot, behind my plane. If I could give the rocket more thrust (over the 1800 lbs), and had about a 10 to 20 second burn time on the motor this might be doable. Michael can you add this to your long list of changes? It'd be so much fun to see. IP: Logged
jedi Pilot	posted 01-29- 09:35 AM Just raving here... You DID give the rockets a launch angle, right? You want em to be "ballistic," they gotta go downrange. Also, what about using the rocket plume just for show, and putting a JET engine in, with a buncha fuel? Sort of a V-1 on steroids. Maybe even two jets. Make the thing light enough and I bet it will go fast. You should be able to program its waypoints too if it's an "airplane" instead of a "weapon."
