Why didn't he use the Z key??WW1 planes in SDOE are awesome, especially since you got the rudder to work much better. Only problem is, that Albatross/SE5a mission is a killer on FPS. Are these planes very high on polys? No distance LODS? IP: Logged |

Didn't use the Z key because with the set up I have now ( video drivers and so forth) I get very poor image quality on my screenshots - they end up all posterized. Some time ago I would get really good ones; I'm not sure what happened. Anyway, this utility produces better ones, but the image is still a lot sharper in the game.Still have to do the wires, landing gear, guns and cockpit. IP: Logged |

Heya,Thats sweet! Looking very nice. Cant wait to get that in the sights of a DVII As for frame rates, atleast for the DVII, they are fair while on line. We just had a 6 plane online using the DVII and had no lag! Actually it was very intense at times. Fight so close at times, I felt i could have slapped the other planes with my hands. Truly a fun night. Again very nice Michael, ------------------ Zoycite {GS} GUNSLINGERS visit The War Paint Factory IP: Logged |

juzz,I am worried about frame rate, what FPS are you getting? What speed system/video card do you have? Do you have my latest SE5a? I did make a fix that helped FPS very much when viewing out from within the cockpit. It had to do with transparent textures. These planes have no more polys than the WWII planes, and the switchouts are actually more harsh because the fighting tends to happen closer - well I still plan on updating switch distances a bit more. Most problems with FPS that I have heard about had to do with looking forward in the SE5a, especialy when zoomed in. I think it had to do with the fact that there were three alpha layers - the windscreen, the gun cooling holes, and the blured prop. I removed the gun holes since the Vikers gun did not have them anyway... that seemed to fix the FPS. Do let me know your FPS. Maybe one reading from the SE5a looking forward, on looking sideways, one zoomed in forward, and one from the outside view. Do the same for the Albatros and the Fokker Dr1a. This would help me very much... I do want the best FPS I can get... -Sv IP: Logged |

I bought this game a week ago after seeing your WW1 openplane projects{£10, a bargain} I'm still having texture problems with my TNT2, but so far I'm not disappointed!. I think the work you guys have done on WW1 aircraft is amazing! keep it up![ hopefully I'll add something of my own soon......... how do I get a template of the WW1 aircraft to make some skins?]IP: Logged |

Burkey,Glad to have you! To edit the skins for the SE5a look here: Fighter Squadron/media/aircraft/SE5a/textures/ The files you need to edit are: wings.tif fuses.tif DmgWings.tif Dmgfuses.tif The Albatros Dva is not finished yet, but you can make new skins by editing: Fighter Squadron/media/aircraft/AlbatrosDva/textures/ wings.tif fuses.tif The damaged verion parts are not done yet, but the mapping of the wings and fuselege will not change. Let me know if you have any other questions! WWI skins rule! -Sv IP: Logged |

Yardstick,I think what Sv was trying to say is that WWI crates, in general have more of an individual artistic flare about them. While i hate to fly LW craft, I love to paint them. For the same reasons I find WWI skins to be more fun. All the colors and markings make for great skins. WWII skins (in genreal) when compared to WWI are kinda bland. When armys first started using A/C as a weapon, the squads and pilots were truly aside from the pomp and brass of the regular units on the ground. Pilots were a 1/4 tactics and 3/4's show. Giving us the great colors and indivdual markings, even amongst the same units. I hope you try your brush at some of these planes, I think you'll have a good time Another note on Frame Rates, I have decided to model the DVII, wind screen in the down position. This will help with FR's. The view from the CP in the DVII is pretty good, even when zoomed and with gun holes in view. I get 50 to 60 in the CP. Where the guns were a problem was from outside the CP, so I made new gun models for outside views and this helped alot. And ingeneral, the WWI craft will usaully be displaying more things than a WWII craft. Wings, wheels, guns, spars and struts, and so on. As for switch in lods, had I known what i know now, they would have been better planned from the start.

Flying these WW I birds is way too much fun. It is much more intense that WW II. It takes a lot more time to shoot someone down. You just keep shooting parts off their plane, unless you get a lucky shot that knocks out their engine, or fly too hard and POP goes your wing. It is so cool watching parts keep getting picked off your plane as you try to keep it in the air. You have to aim for parts too(Wing, tail, etc.) you can't just get behind someone and pull the trigger. You have to aim. Remember, most of thoes guys did not have parachutes. If you didn't land, you probably didn't live.
