Does anyone know what WWII era canopy glass looks like or does when it gets broken or hit by bullets? I can't find any pictures.IP: Logged |

I remember seeing a picture of a B-17 nose canopy that had been hit by a cannon round, it just had a large hole in it, the rest of the canopy was intact, I don't know what the canopy is made of, perspex perhaps?Elric IP: Logged |

I'm sure would could come up with some nice bullet holes for your cockpit. i don't think the canopy would shater,so it would be a nice hole with some craking around the whole.Raz IP: Logged |

Go for it. I really dislike making textures, so any help is appreciated. IP: Logged |

When we were working on the Gustav, we discussed the idea of having damaged armoured glass (settled on the oil streaked windscreen in the end). One thing I did do, was to do a search on the net for companies that manufacture bullet-proof glass and found a number of sites with marketing pictures of their ballistics tests. I didn't save the URLs but it could be worth you while to have a trawl. The rest of the canopy will be perspex and it was only when the British first cracked the technical problem of manufacturing a one-piece bubble canopy for the Typhoon, that other aircraft could be fitted with these. ------------------ Yardstick painted this
