Hi SV! Ok, here's my problem. When you make an Object in AC3D the different parts seems to be different shades of white (you can see this on the pilot's door, and the roof in that location on the Huey). My question is how do you get everything the same shade? Thanks! Jaguar [This message has been edited by Jaguar (edited 01-10-2000).] IP: Logged |

Hey Jag,Hmmmm, I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Do you mean in the 3D window? Is this before you texture? Have you set a surface? Is it flat shaded, or smooth? Is it 1 sided, or 2 sided? Does the normal point the right way? My best guess is that the normal is the wrong way on 1 or more surfaces - when I flipped my left wing over it inverted some of the normals - that makes some surfaces look darker/lighter. I only guess this because it happens to me allot - one of my SE5a early versions had this trouble. Do you see the shade difference in OPS? How about in SDOE? Feel free to send me the AC3D file if you want: sean@schoolmusic.com I keep forgeting how cool that thing looks! That terrain looks so sweet too! ------------------ -Sv =FC= WWI in SDOE! IP: Logged |

Heya,I ran into this too. Is this only visable in the game and OPS? Meaning when you apply the texture? As SV said its probably that the normals need to be flipped. I found this happend when I was making wings. I'd make one side then flip the model for the other side. ------------------ Zoycite {GS} GUNSLINGERS visit The War Paint Factory IP: Logged |

Jaguar,Select the polygon and select flip normals from the surface menu. Flip the normal again to change it back. This usually corrects polygons with bad normals. You can also try change vertex order. Usually if I move points around I flip normals and flip it back again just to be sure the normals are correct. IP: Logged |

Jaguar,I've lost 5 hours with my wings till I found a way to fix the darker areas. I fix my wings and ailerons this way : Selected just up or down surfaces and flip normals then select the other surface and flip too (Don't flip total area !!!!!!!) Try this. nuum WWI aircraft IP: Logged |

Sometimes I have the same problem oddly flipping the normal often doesnt seem to do anything when all else fails I remove the bad polygons and stretch a new mesh over the vertices time consuming but it worksIP: Logged |

I had a terrible time with dark patches, even after getting all the normals facing the right way. I can usually fix it by making the object one sided, flipping the normals the wrong way, changing to two sided, flipping the normals back and then going to one sided. IP: Logged |
