Anyone yet to try really modelling ducted fans in openplane? Heres a fokker with one in place of the prop, but the entire unit spins, not just the blades. Are hollow cylinders possible?

the only form of propulsion is a prop. Hidden or otherwise. So what it looks like from the out side is just eye candy. Just make a prop with many blades (change the shape of them to) then put a cylinder around it (yes it is possible) and you'll have yourself a ducted fan. (granted it will still act like a regular prop though).

Thx guys
I wanted to do this to see if building something like this --> www.solotrek.com
is possible.
Now that the contest is on ill proll just try to build a wwii aircraft.

Regarding the 262, i think that would be great. I took out the fast prop for the fan on that fokker and i think it looks really nice with the aliasing effect, just like a old wagon wheel seeming to spin one way then the other

Spanky, you'll never see the turbine spinning in the 262. It had a turbojet engine, not a turbofan.

You'd still see the foremost compressor blades turning

All jets except ramjets and pulsejets use some sort of rotory system for compression.

It depends on how far back into the nacell the compressor is... If it's far back it would be too dark to see it.

pulse jets (Like on the V-1) use "shutters" to compress the expanding gasses.
