For you guys (like Mposis) and others, what's the best way (least painful) to say, convert the Me262 cockpit to a new twin engine (jet) fighter? The texture mapping doesn't seem too difficult, but the actual placement of the needles w/ their correct DOF's seems painful to me. Is it? Any sort of mini tutorial would be great.

Thanks in advance

Pete,

If you can do a rotation DOF then you're all set. A needle is just a polygon that rotates on one of its ends. It is just like the tailhook you created.

I'll be working on my SE5a cockpit soon - I will document what I find out...

So any tips/tricks - speak up now!

It seems to me that making the cockpit a seperate referenced SM file has benefits:

1. You can inlude multiple cockpit versions without messing up on-line compatibility issues.

2. You can zoom in and place objects without the plane in the way...

...Just gathering ideas here

Thanks Mposis,

About 1 minute after I posted this question it dawned on me, I already know how! My next question was going to be how do I get the guage markings and needle to line up, but I realize it's just getting the initial position of the needle right, then selecting so many percent of the circle for the needle to rotate. Sounds simple enough.

I found out in OPS that if you select BodyPts in the properties of a lod you can specify things like engine rpm and what have you, so that answered THAT question. Looks like I'm ready to start.

Sv,

Sounds great. The more tut's the better. They are really nice!
