Me163alpha this is in its 4th Fm, she flys
great, glides just perfect, and climbs
like original. Speed is correct, texmapping
in progress. I thought you might like
to see how shes progressing. As you can see
Roadtoad has done a great job on scale size.
this baby is real fun to fly.

looking good Panzer!
..thanks for kudo, but you code wizards are the heroes. My only struggle was making it low poly; so I'm really pleased to see that 131.5 frame rate.
..Learned a lot doing it, and since the pit's almost done on the razorback, it'll be next.

Questions:

1. How are the control surfaces being done? The real Me163B had elevons outboard and trim flaps inboard, as well as landing flaps/spoilers under the wings. SDOE can't do the elevons, so I guess you will make it ailerons outboard and elevators inboard?

2. How is the landing gear being done? Is it possible to make it like the real thing with the wheels for takeoff and extending skid for landing? I think the skid should be extended/retracted by the g key, and a new key (the canopy one maybe) assigned to drop the wheels on takeoff, if it's possible to totally detach something like that in SDOE?

Hmmm...

You can detach a whole part of the plane within OpenPlane - like when you get shot to pieces! But can it be done with a key-press? Hmmm... I'm not sure. You could just hold on the wheels with a spring that can not hold the weight of the wheels - then as you lift off the spring would break and the wheels would just bounce and roll there on the ground! Cool!

You can make any object invisable, so you can easily make the real ailerons hidden objects. Then you could tie the aileron DOFS to the elevators DOF - that way they would mimic the behavior of elevons correctly. Of course the FM would never be exact, but I bet you could get close like this.

So elevons would be elevators. Normal up-down would come from the stick like normal. Then you have another DOF on the elevators that queried to position of the aileron of it's parent wing. So bank turn makes left elevon go up and the right elevon go down.

I don't see why this would not work... Anyone else?

Let me know if you guys want me to try this - just send me an alpha SM file that has the wheel unit as part of the plane (it doesn't need to look good)

Now this is the fun stuff
