Get OBJ2MAX and MAX2OBJ from

http://www.habware.at/duck2.htm

It doesn't actually convert it to 3DS but it will import it into MAX

There just MAX plugins so just the MAX plugins dir. You use Import and Export rather than Save and Open. If you watch carefully when MAX starts up you should see the Max2Obj plugin being loaded in the splash screen.

Good work IRG!

There are a couple of little tricks to using MAX with the MAX2OBJ and OPS, so if you run into any problems let me know, chances are that I've been bitten by it before.
