I made a funky king tiger last night, (added a machine gun to the turret, and modified the viewport while I was at it)It would be so very easy to convert exiting ground units: flak panzer, matilda, sherman, hanomag, gmcfueltruck, and a few others to make them into funky trucks. Think of this: we could have missions like 2 people driving fuel tankers from one place to another, they have fighter escorts, but the enemy are taxed with destroying those human controlled fuel trucks. The other thing, is that we could place these vehicles on carriers and such and they would be human controlled online. What do you thing, I think I can convert all those I mentioned in a evening or so, just takes a little extra time to get the viewports and dof's right. I just completed a FunkyTanker. Think I'll funkify all that could be usefull and call it a the funkypak. These would just unzip to aircraft folder, all named accoringly: FunkyTiger, FunkyTanker, FunkyFlak, FunkySherman, FunkyMatilda,FunkyHanomag etc etc. FunkyTiger and FunkyFuel are working pretty good. FunkySherman is givin me trouble, seems to sink in the ground on the left side. I think it may have to to with Inertia boxes, that need to be moved, but Im not positive. I'll move on to the next to at least give them all the parts they need for some funky action. That sounds great Archy! They must be small filesize since they use textures included in the game? It'd be fun to have these available for online play. TS ------------------ ________________________ TS Aircombat

I think that would be a grand ol' idea!!! I've always wanted to drive those tanks and AAA. Will any of it be for online? I would gladly drive trucks and stuff online, or man some flak, etc...------------------ - Jef "Mad Dog" Shoults -Man of leisure IP: Logged |

Actually, I am doing this specifically for online play! AI doesn't drive very well I would guess(seeing the AI's carrier take off performance hehe)IP: Logged |

great job! Can you get them going fast enough to get big air off the ridgelines? If so, how about sticking flight surfaces on them for funky gliders?IP: Logged |

Hey, I wonder if we can make partially funky ships, as in Online contolled(as far as guns go) non moving ship). I think it may work, just leave out the inertia part, but turn em into engineless planes, we could have subs, pt boats, exter's with humans controlling the gun stations online. Anyways, I think I may have 3 or 4 funkyvehicles to post tonight: Original Funkytruck(with reduced engine power), FunkyKingTiger, FunkyFuelTruck, and maybe the FunkySherman.Anyone wishing to help with this, go ahead and make your funkyvehicle and email it to me and we can put it in the funkypak. blodgett@mosquitonet.com IP: Logged |

Yeah Inferno, anyone can take control of ground vehicles in OFFLINE play provided they have enabled that option in the ini file(prolly using Spyders great SDOE control program). This doesn't work for ONLINE play, so we have to turn those units into Aircraft so to speak, to enable them to be controlled by humans online. And in the case of wheeled vehicles, to drive them, we turn them into planes with hidden props, tail & engines, and drive them around.(they don't drive quite realistically, but thats all we got for now.) we can adjust thier top speeds with the engine horsepower settings.IP: Logged |

Archy - This is great! I can hardly wait for them to be released. One catch, though - please make sure that top speeds are realistic (I've hit 500+ cruising along the desert in NAfrica in the FunkyTruck) and please make the guns really easy to use. the guns in the funkytruck SUCK! I can hardly wait - With funkytanks and propbuttmen, we'll soon be able to re-enact the village scene in Saving Private Ryan!!! (just maybe ;D ) this sim RULES!! Werner, you and I are on the same wavelength there! I had already created a SPR mission in my head last night when I was done working, and trying to get to sleep! I know just the place: its where my Huey gunship/carrier mission is, its got a village, with a small bridge near perfect! Anyway back to work- And yes, I was researching the top speeds for tanks today, and will try to match those I found.[This message has been edited by Archy (edited 12-06-1999).] IP: Logged |

Okay, those that want to take a test drive of some of the funky vehicles they are at: http://www.mosquitonet.com/~blodgett/funky.zip An improved version of funkytruck: better viewport for firing guns, drastically reduced top end speed. A FunkyTiger tank with rear wheel steering, is slow to get going, and its top speed is on the high end for a tiger, but feels like a tank. You can fire the main gun and a machine gun from either the drivers seat, or the turret gun position. You must be in the turret position to rotate or raise the guns. A FunkyTanker truck, much like the funky truck itself, needs some work to change the wheels to proper wheels(need to edit in ac3d to get rid of non functional wheels, and use opstudio to paste in some functional ones. Right now, I have the functional wheels hidden, so it is drivable, turns hard though. funky.zip: unzip to your fighter squadron directory, it has its own media and aircraft folders so make sure directory information is on in winzip. If you dont understand, unzip to a temp directory, then find the funky vehicle folders and copy them to your aircraft folder.
