I've finished the cockpit textures now, and also finished 2 BoB schemes (the JG26 eg in the picture is one of them), and an Eastern Front schme based on one done by Fenris for the Gustav. Whilst the Gustav schemes will work with the new Emil, the mapping is slightly different and the older schemes may have to be tweaked to get them looking spot on. I will also try and get a desert scheme finished by the end of the day.Marcus my mail server has gone belly up, I will try to set up an alternative but may not be able to reply to any mails sent over the last day or so. No, I can't log onto the mail server at the moment. I seem to be able to send stuff but can't download. I have re-worked all the panel lines on the Emil to their correct positions and also adjusted the positioning of the camo pattern on the wing upper surface.Give me half an hour and I'll see if I can set up another mail account with a different server. Mposis, YardstickBeautiful! I know that Mposis isn't a WWI aircraft fan but I am thinking about the WWI aircrafts you both could model and texture. Stange shapes beautifully textured. Albatroses.. Just thinking ... Congratulations. A masterpiece. nuum WWI aircraft IP: Logged |

Way to go Mposis and Yardstick! It looks great. I for one do not care if the FMs are correct initially as long as it flys, is fun, and can hod it's own in a dogfight! By the way - which FMs is it using the Fw-190s, the Fw-109Gs, or something else? Can't wait to get my hands on her throttle! Thanks! ------------------

Good job! Now here is where we can save some headaches! Zur has just completed fixing the 109 FM. What other things have you done besides the texturing? It might be a good idea to hook up with Zur and we could release your 109 with PP5.3.------------------ Kopper Fortunae Nihil (Nothing to Chance) OPPs Making SDOE a Dangerous place. What other things have we done apart from the texturing.Well as you will have noticed the 3D model has been completely redone to resemble the bf109E-4. The cockpit and instrumentation is also extensively remodelled to resemble the E series (very different from the Gustav). The FM used is that of one of Zur's latest g-6 betas, and I suspect is not a million miles away from the Emil's performance - if we hadn't told you would you have noticed The loadout is changed to that of a 109E-4 and the whole aircraft has had to be re-textured because of the extensive 3DO changes. Just as we did with the Gustav we have contacted Zur and asked him to take a look at the FM on our behalf (as we have done with every plane bar the Zero - I think MPosis is using that to learn the FM ropes himself). And yes we've also thrown together some textures. [This message has been edited by Yardstick (edited 12-04-1999).] IP: Logged |

Heres some differences for whoever's doing the FM:109E3 / 109G-6 wingspan 32'4 /32'7 length 28'4 /29'7 height 11'2 /11'2 Wing area 174sqft /173sqft engine DB601A 1,100hp/ DB605 1,800hp loaded weight 5523lb / 6945 lb wing loading 32 lb sqft/ 40lb sqft max speed 354mph / 387 mph ceiling 36,091ft/38,550 climb 3281 fpm / 4560 fpm range 412m/450m note: range is purely theoretical given for comparison. I never would have noticed because I only fly bombers! If you used Zur's lated 109g beta than theFM should be good. Zur sent his beta out on Thurs or Fri. Is that the same one you refer to when you say the latest? ------------------ Kopper Fortunae Nihil (Nothing to Chance) OPPs Making SDOE a Dangerous place. One plane at a time. IP: Logged |

Thanks guys.nuum, Sorry, I don't know much about WWI planes. Are there books with scale plan views for them? I don't see many books about them. kopper, This has the flight model of the bf109g that Zurawski sent me last Friday. Razer, In the beginning I tried to modify the Emil you made but it wasn't showing correctly in AC3D so I used the Gustav intead. I think you used OPS to do it because I had the same problem with the Huey. JT, I still get emails from Vanderstok. He still plans to work on the Stuka but I think he is too busy right now. So the FM is close. I think Zur might be done his changes and waiting for feedback. Once the feedback is complete you might be able to coord with Zur on the FM and we can get it in PP5.3.How does the old saying go 'We are from OPPs and we are here to help you!' ------------------ Kopper Fortunae Nihil (Nothing to Chance) OPPs Making SDOE a Dangerous place. mposis and Yardstick - I too am a big fan of your work, and would like to thank you for modelling this plane - it's sure to be an onlnie favourite!Quick question - would you guys mind briefly outline the differences between the E4 and the E7? Not stuff like CoG, but lifespan, production quantities, weaponry, effectiveness, etc. W-O-W. Werner ------------------ Do you support SDOE online? Bf109E4 had the DB601Aa engine. The E4/N changed to the more powerful DB601N. The E7 was identical to E4/N apart from the added capability to carry a 66 gallon droptank or SC 250 bomb on a centreline rack.Visual differences are the centreline rack, and pointy spinner on the E7. How about a G-2 Trop - you have already done the paintjob for it Then a K-4 with the different nose, canopy, extra gear doors, tall tailwheel etc... Because the Bf109 variants all just look so good BTW: How hard would it be to modify all the planes to have opening canopies?[This message has been edited by juzz (edited 12-07-1999).] IP: Logged |

The K is a thought for the future but not just now. Whilst the modelling aspects would be fairly simple I would only do it if I could do the correct cockpit (as I have done for the other 109s). Frankly I am all cockpited out at the moment and need some sleep. From what I understand from the warbird crowd the K is impossible to shoot down but, due to its relative lack of manoeuvrability and low velocity 108 cannon, near impossible to get a kill in IP: Logged |

I actually meant the shipped planes, eg: Fw190, Mustang etc... I just love the "model" aspect of all these different variants Moving bits rule! More moving bits!Questionsquestionsquestions: Can you get the Bf109F+ flaps to work like they did on the real plane? Ie: Split flaps and spoilers. Or is there a limitation in OpenPlane that only 2 DOF's are allowed to be a flap or something? What about animated leading edge slots? Are they possible? Could you make them a DOF on a spring so that air resistance pushes it back into the wing as airspeed->force builds? [This message has been edited by juzz (edited 12-10-1999).] IP: Logged |
